Just four games into his return from a knee injury, Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant will miss Wednesday’s Game 2 action against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The team announced that Durant will sit this one out with a strained calf.

This seemed to be an inevitability once reports surfaced on Tuesday that Durant suffered a strained calf in Golden State’s Game 1 win over Portland over the weeekend. In fact, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr went as far to say that he was concerned about the injury (more on that here).

Golden State boasts a 1-0 series lead heading into Wednesday’s home game against Portland and swept the Blazers in four outings during the regular season. It stands to reason that the team would play it cautious with the former MVP in this situation.

With Durant out of action, expect more of the scoring onus to fall to fellow All-Stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Durant put up 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting while adding 11 rebounds in Golden State’s 121-109 win over Portland on Easter Sunday.
