The Sports Bank will be counting down to the opening tip of the 2012-13 NBA season with team by team previews starting with the worst and working our way to the title contenders.  There is no lockout this time around so let’s get going. The Washington Wizards training camp began with a sour taste as news came out that John Wall suffered a minor setback to his knee injury and could miss the first month of the regular season.  That is not the start that a franchise which has suffered through four straight brutally bad years was hoping to hear as they try to turn the corner and inch towards becoming a playoff contender. WASHINGTON WIZARDS 2011-12: 20-46, 14th in Eastern Conference Predicted EC Finish: 14th Projected Depth Chart: C: Nene Hilario/Emeka Okafor/Kevin Seraphin PF: Jan Vesely/Trevor Booker/Brian Cook SF: Chris Singleton/Trevor Ariza/Martell Webster SG: Jordan Crawford/Bradley Beal/Cartier Martin PG: John Wall/Shelvin Mack/A.J. Wizards' Wall hopes to return sooner than expected

Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, tabbed to miss the first month of the regular season with a left knee injury, hopes he'll return sooner than expected. ''Luckily, I'm young,'' said Wall, who was diagnosed with the early stages of a stress injury to his left knee cap. ''Hopefully, it'll heal quicker than what it takes older people.'...

John Wall may be out until December

The Washington Wizards are having to bounce back after some tough personnel calls that left them dealing with the immaturity of guys like Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee. They have moved past those guys now though, and could be a team on the rise with a lot of young talent, and some solid veterans as well. They brought in Nene, Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor and drafted Bradley...

NBA Rumors: Wizards Lose John Wall for about 8 Weeks

The Washington Wizards will enter the 2012-13 season a man down. According to the Associated Press, Wizards’ star point guard John Wall will miss double-digit games to start the NBA season. “Just something that happens when you work out very hard; that’s all I can say,” Wall said. “It’s very tough for me, Wall added. Wall [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit...

Wizards Training Camp, Day 2: Heart, Effort and a lot of Martell Webster

After the second day of camp and the third practice overall, it seems like the chemistry of the Washington Wizards is starting to kick in.  Player conditioning and personal willpower are put to the test and the days will get more tiring and difficult as camp season progresses. Being there I noticed the guys seem very serious as you will read in the quotes below.  One particular...

Pargo Takes Over For John Wall

With Wall out for 8 weeks, the Wizards had to make a move. And that move is Jannero Pargo. The agreement is a 1yr deal at the vet’s min but only until Wall returns. Which kinda sucks for Pargo, but work is work I guess.

In The Scrum With Jannero Pargo

I caught up with PG Jannero Pargo at Wizards Media Day. Just getting into town after agreeing to terms with Washington, Pargo talked about his opportunity to contribute in the wake of John Wall’s injury.   sr_adspace_id = 1000001551307; sr_adspace_width = 728; sr_adspace_height = [...]

He averaged 5.6 points and 1.9 assists in 50 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, and has also played for the Lakers, Bulls and Hornets. "Jannero brings us veteran leadership and added...

In The Scrum With John Wall

I caught up with Wizards guard John Wall at Media Day. Wall talked about being ruled out of training camp, what he’s been doing since, and how the team will fair in his absence. John Wall Photo Shoot: sr_adspace_id = 1000001551307; sr_adspace_width = 728; sr_adspace_height [...]

John Wall Out With Injury

A stress injury to his left patella is the reason Wall will be sitting out 8 weeks this NBA season. Luckily, surgery will not be required on the foot but it’s not the way the Wizards wanted to start off their season. Especially after reloading their squad with Ariza, Nene and Okafor.

Wizards Training Camp. Day 1: Size and Versatility

The Wizards had their first practice of training camp today at the beautiful campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. It was all business for the young squad, sans John Wall of course, as they ran up and down the court showing off their fast paced offense. From the get go, the offense  looked like it will be faster than before as big men like Emeka Okafor, Kevin Seraphin...

In The Scrum With AJ Price

I caught up with newly acquired guard AJ Price at Wizards Media Day. He spoke about John Wall’s injury and the competition at guard going into training camp.   sr_adspace_id = 1000001551307; sr_adspace_width = 728; sr_adspace_height = 90; sr_ad_new_window = true; [...]
