The Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder will forever be linked because of the 2007 NBA draft and the former I-5 Rivalry. The problem is, OKC fans probably don’t even realize it. The Thunder have advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season, and while their fans are hoping for their first appearance in the NBA Finals, they likely don’t even see the anguish their success brings Trail Blazers fans tucked away in the Pacific Northwest. The I-5 Rivalry means nothing to the fans down south. Why Oklahoma City even remains in the Northwest Division is beyond me. Even Greg Oden should be an afterthought in their minds, as the city had Kevin Durant and the former Seattle SuperSonics land in their laps a whole year after the 2007 NBA draft took place. The question in Portland, of course, is, would the Blazers be in the Western Conference Finals right now if they had drafted Durant instead of the often-injured Oden? There’s no way to tell, but fans...

Previewing the conference finals: What to do about Durant?

The San Antonio Spurs know they’re going to have their hands full in their series with the Oklahoma City Thunder. They’d be stupid to underestimate the offensive firepower that the Thunder are capable of producing. The biggest threat is, of course, three-time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant. Durant’s long frame combined with his shooting and athletic ability makes him...

Video: Pop on defending Kevin Durant

It's going to be a tall task to accomplish starting this sunday in San Antonio when the Spurs have to  contend with Oklahoma City Thunder's scoring machine Kevin Durant.Today on Project Spurs, Kyle Boenitz took a crack at how the Spurs should approach defending KD but what about head coach Gregg Popovich? Surely he would know how to put the clamps on Durant?Pop said the...

Death threats for OKC Thunder shirts are alright in my book

Rednecks really aren’t that funny By now, all of you have seen the design of the Oklahoma Thunder t-shirts that mock the Seattle Supersonics logo on the front, with a very snide “Thank you Seattle, OKC” written on the back. I’m a man who always likes a little sarcasm in my sports, but this shirt has gone too far I think. In fact I know it has. I remember my first foray into...

OKC Thunder Fan Yells “Keep Moving, D*ckhead” At OKC Fan, Gets Dropped

Just when you thought Oklahoma City Thunder games would never include one OKC fan yelling “Keep moving, dickhead” to another OKC fan, these folks shock the hell out of us. Here we figured OKC Nation was on the same page. All In! One Goal! Just Win, OKC! Add your own stupid playoff cliché as you see fit. However, the other night two dudes went at it in the upper deck. These...

Thunder Alley forced to change after shooting on Monday

Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown Oklahoma City has been living up to that Energy portion of its name all year long. Thunder fans have that place rocking through television screens all over the country, and have done so ever since OKC first entered the playoffs a couple years ago. With Kevin Durant's first trip to the Western Conference Finals set to commence, it's only...

Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook want Scott Brooks to keep quiet about turnovers

To this point in the 2011-2012 NBA playoffs, the Thunder have done little wrong. It took them only nine games to reach the Western Conference finals, so Oklahoma City is likely feeling well-rested as they prepare to take on the Spurs. You don’t have that type of success without protecting the basketball, which is exactly what the Thunder have done. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook...

No games to be viewed outside OKC’s arena, anymore

Monday night was a great night for the Oklahoma City Thunder organization. They took another step in the right direction, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals to advance to the WCF. But I am not writing about Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook or how well the Thunder played against the Lakers. I am writing about the aftermath of the Thunder’s...
