Greg Monroe (middle) loves playing the Celtics.
It's been more than a year since the Celtics beat the Pistons. On December 30th, 2011 Boston knocked off Detroit 96-85 in their first game at the Garden last season. Since that day the Pistons are 36-63 against all other teams in the NBA combined, but 4-0 vs. Boston. In fact, in those four games the Celtics have never even come within single digits, losing by an average of 15 points.
The Pistons were 17th in the league in rebounding last year (-0.4 per game), and currently rank 11th (+1.7) this season. But against the Celtics they crash the boards as well as anybody, out-rebounding Boston by nearly eight (7.75) per contest.
The C's biggest nemesis has been power forward/center Greg Monroe, who's averaged 18.5 points and 10.75 rebounds during Detroit's four-game head to head win streak.
There's no good reason for why the Celtics keep getting owned by the Pistons, while the rest of the NBA seems to have no tro...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Boston Celtics tried to keep the band together for one last run or two, but the way the team is playing, you get the feeling the window is closed shut and locked.
The Celtics are 20-20 on the season and not looking anything close to formidable. Celtics head coach Doc Rivers is Frustrated and according to CSNNE, “does not feel like he is doing his job.”
Rivers told Sherrod...
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- So much for jet leg.
Three days after flying across the Atlantic and back for a game in London, the Pistons came out Sunday and beat the Boston Celtics, 103-88.
"We got into the gym when we got back, just to get the jet lag out of here and get some shots up," said Brandon Knight, who finished with 15 points. "We had some great workouts and...
Kevin Garnett will never be misunderstood as a nice guy. The NBA is full of personalities that are competitive yet not capable of the misdeeds that Garnett is capable of. Joakim Noah is not exactly a pillar of virtue either. His history does not reflect someone who is afraid to sneak in a low-blow from time [...]

Everyone is waiting for Boston to make that inevitable run that the team always seems to have within it. The Celtics are a veteran team with championship aspirations and knows exactly how to pace themselves.
Something though seems off about the 20-20 Celtics and they seem much more in the thick of the fight near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
In perhaps a motivational...

7:30: The Celtics, now just 20-19, will visit the 14-25 Pistons tonight at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The first meeting between these two teams was on November 18, a 103-83 Pistons victory. The Celtics really underestimated Detroit that day and I expect an adjustment to be made for tonight. As for injuries, Avery Bradley is a game-time decision. Bradley's X-rays on his sore...
On Tuesday night the Celtics played their second of two road games, this time in Cleveland against the Cavaliers. The Celtics came in off a bad loss to the Detroit Pistons that caused Doc Rivers to make some harsh statements. Following their loss Doc threatened that if this team didn't get it together big changes were ahead. The team looked to bounce back and stop their three...
We’ve seen our fair share of bad sports tattoos around these parts (to refresh your memory click here, here, here, here and here), so it should come as no shock that someone out there decided to honor Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva by having him image tattooed on their body, in this case majority of the left arm of a presumed Detroit Pistons fan.
While it is odd to ink the...
This is what happens when you let George Stephanopoulos call an inauguration ceremony attended by the greatest member of the Boston Celtics.
This wouldn’t be so bad if Bill wasn’t wearing a Celtics hat. Where are the spotters from ABC?
Maybe a simple, “George, coming up is a shot of Celtics legend Bill Russell,” in his ear before giving him the Bill Russell shot.
Apparently Morgan Freeman is a big Boston Celtics fan. Who knew? Wait, that’s not Morgan Freeman. The legendary actor may be a green teamer for all we know, but that would be Celtics legend Bill Russell.
Russell attended Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration on Monday morning, and George Stephanopoulos accidentally identified him as Freeman during ABC’s telecast of the event...
According to Comcast SportsNet New England, Avery Bradley will try to participate in today's shootaround before the game against the Detroit Pistons, and subsequently see if he will be able to play through the pain of his rib injury that he sustained against the Hornets.
Avery Bradley's status for tonight's game against Detroit is still up in
the air, though the 6...
The Boston Celtics matched the New England Patriots and lost by 15 points Sunday night.
The Detroit Pistons defended their home court by lowering a 103-88 beating on the visitors.
While the loss wasn't quite as meaningful as the Patriots' season-ending AFC Championship loss, it was another depressing effort for the Celtics.
After a tough overtime loss against the Chicago...
