Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Adrian Wojnarowski is one of the more respected sports writers in the league. His opinions are sound and his articles are always spot on. So, when Wojo posted a series of tweets about the Celtics center Fab Melo, it is probably a good idea to pay attention to them.
Celtics love the way 1st-round pick Fab Melo has developed in Maine (D-League record 14 blocks Saturday), but want to be patient with him.

Another huge game for Fab Melo in D-League: 32 points, 9 rebounds, 9 blocks. Before season's over he could help Boston. Long term, look out.

Boston's been patient w/ Melo, using Maine as true minor league affiliate. So far, Celts won't recall Melo til real minutes await him in NBA

It's obvious that Fab has a great deal of potential. It's also obvious that he needs more work to turn that potential into production at the NBA level on a regular basis. The fact that the Red Claws are running the Celtics' system is a huge bonus here because Fab is learning exactly what he will use with the parent club and not just putting in busy work in a different system.
I like that they are being patient with him. They were patient with Avery Bradley in the same way and look how that turned out. While Fab more than likely won't put up this type of numbers every night, it's obvious that the talent is there and that's a very good thing for the Celtics in the long run. Possibly even this season. But, as Wojo says, long term, look out.

Above are the video highlights from Fab Melo's 32 point, 9 rebound, and 9 block game against the Idaho Stampede. Hopefully when Melo gets recalled from the D-League, he can use all the experience he got as a confidence builder and can perform well for the Celtics. We could really use his size. Ok now this is getting a bit ridiculous...
Two former Celtics were in the D-League news this week as the Canton Charge sent the rights to former Celtic Luke Harangody and a 2013 third-round draft pick to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants today for former Celtic JaJuan Johnson and Fort Wayne’s 2013 first-round draft pick.
The 6-foot-10 Johnson, a big man who would rather shoot jump shots than bang down low, averaged 13.2 points...
Over at MassLive.com, where Celtics Town authoritarian dictator (just kidding) Jay King gets paid to write about sports, Jay posted an interesting article on how Boston’s full-team plus/minus improves immensely when Jared Sullinger plays with the starters in place of Brandon Bass and/or Jason Collins. From Masslive.com:“Consider this: During the 197 minutes when Sullinger has...
In the Celtics early start on Christmas Day, CSN viewers were surrounded with holiday spirit, including anecdotal stories of KG buying Scal a Louis Vuitton suitcase, and Keyon Dooling dishing out holiday cheer like it he was playing point guard again. Then things became reminiscent of the last meeting between Brooklyn and Boston when Gerald Wallace and Kevin Garnett got a little...
After spending four years crafting a reputation as one of the NBA's best teams in November and December, the Boston Celtics have found the last two seasons to be rather unkind when it comes to getting out of the blocks quickly, with early hardship coming to define them in their old age.
It started last year when, without a training camp to rely on, coach Doc Rivers' past...
A Look at the Boston Celtics Match-ups in California The Boston Celtics say goodbye to 2012 from sunny California after kicking off a four game road trip by administering a Christmas Day beating to the Brooklyn Nets. The West Coast swing, in particular the first two games against the Los Angeles Clippers and the [...]
Here are the highlights from the Clippers beat down of the Celtics late Thursday night. Celtics box score below.
BOSTON — Paul Pierce gave Jason Collins his game ball, everybody clapped and that was pretty much that. A few days later, Pierce’s token of recognition for the veteran center’s hard work was all but forgotten for many members of the Celtics, who were much more impressed with the 40-point performance that earned Pierce the game ball in the first place.
But for Collins, the gesture...
In a rare D-League trade, two recent Celtics, JaJuan Johnson and Luke Harangody, have been traded for each other.
The Charge acquired former Purdue big man JaJuan Johnson on Friday, and they used an old friend to do it.
Canton sent the rights to former Cavalier forward Luke Harangody and a 2013 third-round draft pick to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in exchange for Johnson and Fort Wayne’s...
Hopefully the Celtics aren’t sensitive about their weight. Because Doc Rivers certainly doesn’t care.
The Celtics’ coach complimented rookie forward Jared Sullinger, and then called him fat. This backhanded compliment came after Sullinger had a career-day on Christmas, going six-for-seven shooting with 16 points and seven rebounds.
“Jared was wonderful. He’s such a smart...
As you guys know, I live in San Francisco but am originally from Long Beach. I am here right now visiting my family and old friends. What I heard recently was pretty shocking. Most of the Laker fans here have told me they will be rooting for the Celtics tonight so the Clippers streak will end. I can not believe it. I would root for anyone to beat the Lakers and that would even mean...
Imagine for a moment a top 15 player in the NBA was given the rights by his team to come and film a movie in which he plays for the Celtics. Think of James Harden today. Now what if I told you this actually took place?
It did in a movie called Amazing Grace and Chuck, and why there's so little coverage on it today is beyond me. I remember seeing this film a long time ago...
Danny Ainge addressed the Celtics' struggles so far this season.
Well, this game made my Christmas a bit merrier. It would have been a lot better if the Lakers and Heat had lost but I'll take a Celtics win any day, especially over these very unlikeable Nets and their fans. The fact that some of them were complaining about the officiating is laughable, given that they shot 29 free throws to 13 for the Celtics. Nets fans seem to hate their...
On Thursday night the Celtics started out their three game road trip against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Celtics come in off a blowout win on Christmas day against the Nets in which the team was firing on all cylinders. The Clippers own the league's best record at 22-6 and had a 14 game winning streak coming into the night. The Celtics looked to start off their trip ending...
