Grit, Grind, GRIZZ!:
Neither K-Love nor Z-Bo reached their usual double double. Love posted 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Zach gave Memphis 17 points and 4 boards.
It’s nice to know that professional athletes, as rich as they are, still get excited about fancy jewelry. It sure seems that way, because ever since Mike Miller received his championship ring in Miami, the Grizzlies have become downright feral — especially on the defensive end. After letting one slip away against the Heat, and avenging themselves by dominating the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, the Minnesota T’Wolves were next in line to get mauled.
And get mauled they did: Memphis built a 15 point first quarter lead and never looked back afterwards, winning the game 109-92.
Let’s breakdown the box:
Focus: Lately, the Grizzlies are showing a ferocity from the opening tip that is very inspiring and very promising. Against a Minnesota team that is known to get off to hot starts, the Grizzlies locked down early, racing out to a 12-4 lead. By the...

Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Tony Allen will not play tonight against the Timberwolves due to a stomach illness, according to Rob Fischer on Twitter. With Allen out of the lineup, look for James Johnson and Nick Calathes to pick up extra minutes off the bench at the shooting guard position. Tonight will begin a 5 game road trip for the Memphis Grizzlies and it is definitely crunch time. Grizzlies are now 42-28 sitting at 7th seed in the Western Conference. This 2013-2014 season is quickly coming to an end having only 12 games left in regular season.

Fur on the Floor:
This is what happens when you don’t have time on your hands, but you decide to spend it doing something other than the thing you were initially doing. It’s like shedding. Griz comes into the room and, for no other reason, shakes off all the loose fur onto your carpet. I’ll think of a better simile or metaphor as time passes. Onto the goods:
The Grizzlies began a five-game road trip a bit wobbly.
But they found their bearings late and earned a 91-87 comeback victory over the Utah Jazz Wednesday night in EnergySolutions Arena.
The Western Conference worst Jazz were in control most of the night and looked as if they would upset a quality opponent at home for the first time since beating the Miami Heat on Feb. 8.
Last week on the Tell It Like It Is Show, host Jonathan C. Smith (@likeitismemphis) asked me how I thought the Grizzlies would do in the Heat-Pacers back to back over the weekend. I know my answer sounded lame, but I was totally noncommittal — I could see the Grizzlies winning or losing both games, or splitting them. Two championship contenders, back-to-back, with a post game flight...
