In an NBA.com profile this week, Yao Ming waxed poetic about the NBA’s newest golden child, Jeremy Lin. It is quite possibly the most magical quote you will read this week.
“What I see from Jeremy and what I hear in his interviews is he appreciates everything. He pursues his dream. His attitude is so peaceful, but there is strength to him. It is not a violent strength like fire or something aggressive. It is like the ocean, very peaceful, very quiet when you look at it. But you can never underestimate the power that is in there.”
The retired Rockets center also clarified that he’s never been a mentor to Lin, despite reports saying otherwise. The two have only simply exchanged text messages. But with Yao’s colorful rhetoric, I say he should write Lin’s biography.
