Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
I love that title, because the C’s sure have looked like they’ve had none at times this year. And as a Celtics fan, I expect the best every year, and we just haven’t seen it yet. So what’s it going to take to get some “game”?
Herald: Celtics Look For Some Game
The Celtics play the Nets today on Christmas, the first major date on the NBA calendar, and when Doc Rivers looks down his roster he sees a troubling amount of incongruity.
Celtics management preached patience throughout their 13-13 start, but even people like the Celtics coach and president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, the person responsible for getting him players, sound a little surprised that this jigsaw puzzle has been so ill-fitting.
Rivers blames it on the previous environments of his new players.
“Guys from different places show a lot of differen...
BEST OF MAXIM
Doc Rivers gave Chris Forsberg & the rest of the media the bad news at today’s practice in Waltham:
Wilcox hurt the thumb in Tuesday’s game vs the Bulls. It’s being called an “ulnar collateral sprain” of his right thumb. Doc says he’s been told Wilcox should be out somewhere from 3 to 4 weeks. Obviously this is not good for a team that is already struggling with...
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By BRIAN MAHONEY AP Basketball Writer Doc Rivers left home for the holiday, lost the game, and loved every minute of it.
''That was perfect,'' Rivers said, recalling the Boston Celtics' 2011-12 season opener. ''I just think it was awesome.''
A year after the NBA started its season on Christmas out of necessity, Rivers and...
The biggest body that left the biggest impression? Celtics rookie Jared Sullinger.
“Jared was wonderful,” said coach Doc Rivers. “He’s such a smart player. When you watch him, you don’t see rookie. You just see a big fat guy playing basketball.”
Rivers smiled broadly as he made the remark, reflecting on Sullinger’s contributions to Boston’s 93-76 victory.

“Jared was wonderful. He’s such a smart player. When you watch him, you don’t see rookie. You just see a big fat guy playing basketball.” Big fan of Doc Rivers. Loved him even more when he was the color commentator on ESPN prior to taking the Boston Celtics job. He is candid, and insightful. And [...]

Doc Rivers Says Avery Bradley Will Not Accompany Team on West Coast Trip In Doc Rivers’ pre-game session with the media, he told them that Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley, who has been recovering from double-shoulder surgery, will return in Boston against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 2nd. Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe [...]
Ainge has some tough decisions to make with this team going forward, and how he handles them could cost him his job As one of the NBA's most established and successful franchises, the Boston Celtics aren't accustomed to mediocrity and are used to winning, especially since the summer of '07 when they added Ray Allen (now with the Heat) and Kevin Garnett to their...
Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace and Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett received double technical fouls after getting into a scuffle in the fourth quarter of the Celtics' 93-76 victory Tuesday afternoon.
Wallace grabbed an offensive rebound and went up for the putback while trailing by 17 points. He was fouled and got tangled up with Garnett. He appeared to grab Garnett...
After spending four years crafting a reputation as one of the NBA's best teams in November and December, the Boston Celtics have found the last two seasons to be rather unkind when it comes to getting out of the blocks quickly, with early hardship coming to define them in their old age.
It started last year when, without a training camp to rely on, coach Doc Rivers' past...
Hopefully the Celtics aren’t sensitive about their weight. Because Doc Rivers certainly doesn’t care.
The Celtics’ coach complimented rookie forward Jared Sullinger, and then called him fat. This backhanded compliment came after Sullinger had a career-day on Christmas, going six-for-seven shooting with 16 points and seven rebounds.
“Jared was wonderful. He’s such a smart...
Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers said that forward Chris Wilcox will be out three to four weeks with a sprained right thumb. The team announced Monday that they promoted Jarvis Varnado from Sioux Falls of the D-League to take Wilcox's spot on the roster. Varnado appeared in 10 games for the SkyForce and averaged 14.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and a league-best 3.9 blocks in 30...

With a curiosity around the state of the Boston Celtics (14-13), Doc River’s made a statement in dominating fashion finishing the Brooklyn Nets (14-13) this time around 93-76.
Leading scorers not needed:
Recently, games would be around the name Paul Pierce, but Tuesday’s performance was behind rookie Jared Sullinger aka “big fat...
Danny Ainge made a series of moves during the offseason that were interpreted as efforts to fortify the Celtics’ bench. Despite the Celtics’ struggles overall, it would appear that mission, at least, was successful.
The Celtics’ bench scoring is up almost 40 percent over last season, when only the Lakers got fewer points from their reserves. At 13-13, the Celtics are only one...
Thumb Injury Could Sideline Boston Celtics’ Chris Wilcox ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg tweeted that Doc Rivers said the Boston Celtics are expected to announced that Chris Wilcox will be sidelined with a thumb injury that could keep him out three to four weeks. Forsberg also tweeted that it is a ulnar collateral sprain, and [...]
Boston Celtics forward/center Chris Wilcox will miss nearly a month with an ulnar collateral sprain in his right thumb, according to coach Doc Rivers.
Wilcox injured the thumb on Tuesday in Chicago and has sat out the last two games, though Rivers had admitted he was going to lean on other bigs given Wilcox’s recent defensive struggles. Now the injury will keep him on the shelf...
