HORNETS RUMORS & GOSSIP

New Orleans Hornets Re-Sign Donald Sloan

The New Orleans Hornets have given Donald Sloan a second 10-day contract. If the Hornets want to sign Sloan by March 1, they’re going to have to keep him for the rest of the season. Sloan will not receive that many chances to play since a good chunk of the 10-day contract will be eaten up by All-Star weekend festivities. Follow Ryan Gaydos on Twitter @RyanGaydos

Trevor Ariza is quietly having a productive season for fantasy owners

I haven't had a lot of faith in Trevor Ariza. He's notoriously a poor shooter from the free-throw line (67 percent for his career). But his cross-category production is hard to ignore. The Hornets lost in overtime to the Pacers 117-108, but Ariza played well. He hit 8-of-15 shots and 2-of-2 free throws for 21 points, three 3-pointers, six rebounds, five assists a steal, a...

Kevin Durant Throws Down vs New Orleans

Kevin Durant showed no love to the rim tonight versus the New Orleans Hornets. Just one night after his career-high 51 point performance against the Nuggets, Durant came back with a top 10 play as he steals the ball at half court and throws it down for the tomahawk slam. New Orleans center Emeka Okafor could be out for an extended period. Okafor sat out his second straight game Wednesday and did not accompany the team for the start of its six-game road trip. Hornets coach Monty Williams would not offer a timetable on how long Okafor will be sidelined. "It's one of those weird deals," Williams said. "I'm not going to get...

Hornets coach Monty Williams says Eric Gordon’s knee injury is LeBron James’ fault

Last week LeBron James invited everyone to blame their problems on him. So, with the open invitation, that’s exactly what New Orleans Hornets coach Monty Williams did Monday. When addressing that whole Kendrick Perkins dilemma last week, LeBron said, “I’m an easy target; if someone wants to get a point across — just throw LeBron’s name in there. You...

Average Joe of the Day: Rex Chapman

I’m going to bring back a bit that I used to do called Average Joe of the Day and combine it with the “Baseball Card of the Day” column. Since I still have my thousands of baseball/basketball/football cards from my youth I’m going to pick one out and comment on it. Since none of the cards I’m picking were worthy of being put in a hard case or even a...

Will Ferrell does player intros for Bulls-Hornets game (Video)

Will Ferrell is no stranger to joking around in the sports world. He’s shown up at USC practices and helped with Halloween pranks, and he once showed up at a minor league baseball game pretending to be a pitcher. This time he took on the familiar role of introductions announcer, a role he also held in Old School. In New Orleans to film the movie Dog Fight with Zach Galifianakis...

Video: Will Ferrell does player intros for game

Will Ferrell is a comedic genius. Wednesday night, he took his talents to New Orleans to do the player introductions for the Chicago Bulls-New Orleans Hornets game. The introductions are for an upcoming movie, which I’ll probably have to see. His introductions for Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah were classic. Thanks to CSN Chicago for the video.
