The Steelers pulled out a win versus the Bengals today to take a 7-3 record in to the bye week.  The Steelers will be no worse then second in the AFC North and most likely no worse then 3rd in the AFC.  The Steelers look to be in good position on the way to the playoffs.  Here is what I saw in today’s game. Observations Nap Time- Lets start with the bad and finish with the good.  We decided to take a nap again in todays game in the fourth quarter and late in the second.  We should have finished the Bengals off today early and we let them crawl back and back and back until they were right in the game.  It may have been a different story if A.J. Green does not get hurt.  He had the advantage over us in the pass game.  He could have turned that game around for Cincinnati.  We need to play a full game just like we did versus New England. Heath Miller-  Heath almost cost us the game today.  His drop turned interception gave up a score to get the Bengals back in the game.  Then his...

Steelers 4th Quarter Offense Must Improve After Bye Week

The Steelers head into the bye week at 7-3 and while there have been plenty of bright spots during these first 10 games, there have also been a good share of dark spots. One of those that stick out stat wise and on the field is the play of the Steelers offense in the 4th quarter in close games. I define close in this post as a range of down by 7 to up by 7 points. We have seen the...

Steelers Bengals Inactives Week 10

Below are the 7 players that will be inactive and not dress today in Cincinnati for the Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. The Steelers ruled out 3 players on the week 10 Friday injury report and they were Arnaz Battle, Emmanuel Sanders and LaMarr Woodley. Inactives are officially released and announced starting 90 minutes before kick-off. The Ravens ruled...

Back in First Place. STEELERS WIN.

All right, there have been prettier wins. Fortunately, this is Pittsburgh and I don't think anyone cares about being pretty as long as they get it done in the end. Last week, the defense didn't make the plays it had to at the end of the game to win. This week, they did. The defense looked old a couple of times during the game, but they got the late turnover to put the game...

Fifth quarter: Steelers 24, Bengals 17

GAME BALLS Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins: Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has been looking for more ways to incorporate “Little Hawk” into his game plan and he certainly did that against the Steelers. Hawkins had five receptions for 56 yards, including a nice 25-yard diving catch during the first quarter which gave the Bengals momentum. Linebacker Manny Lawson: Easily his best...

Steelers impressed by Dalton

Andy Dalton might have thrown two interceptions in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 24-17 loss to Pittsburgh at PBS but he earned the respect of the Steelers for his poise throughout the game. Dalton finished the game 15-of-30 for 170 yards, two touchdowns and the two interceptions. He had a passer rating of 61.8 but the Steelers were particularly impressed with how he kept his...

Disappearing Ward facing his biggest challenge yet

In many ways, the Steelers game Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals was typical of the series. But in one significant way, the win was unlike any other Steelers game. For the first time, future Hall of Famer Hines Ward wasn't a big part of the offense even though he was healthy.

Steelers 24, Bengals 17: Steelers Turn Things Around Against Bengals

Steelers cornerback William Gay, who had been vilified around Pittsburgh for allowing the wining touchdown last week, made a key interception late in the game to preserve the Steelers’ victory.
