The Kansas City Chiefs could end the preseason with a 2-2 record if they can win against the Packers on Thursday night. In recent history the Chiefs have been bad in the preseason and a win would actually help their mental outlook on the season. The Chiefs are coming off a horrible 30 point loss against Seattle at home and also a lackluster loss to the Rams. They did win their home-opening preseason game against Arizona. Many of the players are under the microscope and some are just trying to get their feet under them before the season starts.Wide Receivers: Dwayne Bowe is back in the mix after avoiding training camp, or in common terms, “holding out”.Bowe has had over 1,000 yards the last two years. He had 15 touchdowns in 2010. He’s a premier receiver, but he needs to get on the same page with his quarterback before the season starts. He seems a little lost. Jonathan Baldwin looks the part, tall, quick, good jumping ability, but mentally he maybe lacking. He got in a fist fight with ru...

Matt Cassel needs a castle in Kansas City

After three preseason games the only thing that seems absolutely clear is that the Kansas City Chiefs go as their quarterback goes. If Matt Cassel feels comfortable and relaxed, so does the offense.  Unfortunately, Cassel has so many bug-a-boos that he never seems to stay comfortable and relaxed through an entire game. It already seems [...]

Quinn shows many errors in preseason finale

What makes evaluating backup quarterbacks in preseason so challenging is that they rarely get to play with the first-team offense. But that wasn't the case Thursday for Brady Quinn, recently anointed the Chiefs' No. 2 quarterback. Quinn got the chance to play with the Chiefs' first string, albeit briefly, in the team's final preseason game at Green Bay. Quinn,...

Chiefs will start Dontari Poe this week

AP The Kansas City Chiefs plan on starting rookie nose tackle Dontari Poe for Thursday’s preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers.  It looks like they want to see how he fares against a starting offense in a live game. “He’s making progress,” Crennel told The Kansas City Star per NFL.com. “But he’s still that rookie who reverts back to what he knows at times,...

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill Thinks the Kansas City Chiefs are in the NFC East

Just because you play football doesn’t mean you are a football fan. You may love to play, but not be that interested in the sport. I know a lot of NFL players if they are playing on a Monday or Thursday night, won’t even watch football on Sunday. With that being said, most know the teams and divisions except Ryan Tannehill. “I wasn’t a huge pro fan growing up; I wasn...

Chiefs still looking to find identity

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Chiefs are heading toward their preseason finale Thursday night at Green Bay with what appears to be an identity problem. Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis give Kansas City one of the league's best backfields - a quintessential thunder-and-lightning look. And with the play of Matt Cassel at quarterback one of the biggest question marks entering...

Ankle injury to Chiefs’ Derrick Johnson could be “significant”

Already missing Tamba Hali for the opener with suspension, this is not what the Chiefs wanted to hear. According to the Kansas City Star, the ankle injury suffered by Derrick Johnson in the Chiefs’ preseason finale “could be significant” and he could be “doubtful” for week 1. It’s head scratching why Johnson was even out there in a game normally reserved for well…reserves...

Why the NFL Should Keep Four Preseason Games

A section at a Chiefs game. Much debate has been circling for some time on whether the National Football League should shorten the preseason from four games down to two. With dropping two games from it’s preseason schedule, the NFL would also want to add two games to the regular season. But the NFL should leave it just the way it is, at least for now. Under the current collective...
