A recap of the best and brightest from the weekend that was, and we start with a very serious question :03 Did you wait all day for Scott Pioli? NBC Sports has reportedly added the former Kansas City Chiefs general managertown pariah to its "Football Night in America" team, where, according to Sports Illustrated, he'll work out of the studio in New York City or wherever the network's Sunday Night Football game of that week is held. Pioli will be used in the role of "informationalist," and told SI that he was courted by NBC in short order after being let go from the Chiefs in January. Oh, and the locals will get a kick out of this Pioli quote, also from the SI story: "Evaluating in my old job the things I did well and the things I did not do well, I certainly believe understanding the media and what their job is was something I did not do a good job of," noted the ex-Chief administrator, whose teams were 23-41 in his four years at the helm. "I thought this was a good opportunity to learn and grow, and get better in a lot of different areas." :02.0 The new phone book's here! The new phone book's here! Oh, yeah, and Andrew Wiggins. If you had "June 15" in your "Guess Which Day Diaper Dandy Andy Will Arrive In Lawrence" pool, feel free to collect. The 6-foot-7 Canadian swingman reportedly turned up at campus for the first time Saturday, or a day later than had originally been reportedexpectedsurmised. He's expected to get into the flow -- taking summer school courses, practicing with his new teammates -- in short order. :01.5 ... But he won't be practicing with Rio Adams. Still, the former KU guard has resurfaced, this time at Ohio University, according to an ESPN report. Adams got on the wrong side of coach Bill Self when he went onto social media to question why he wasn't getting more playing time. Self, no surprise, was not amused, and after conflicting smoke signals, the 6-3 Seattle native officially parted ways with the Jayhawks in April, telling the Lawrence Journal-World that "I feel like going home and playing closer is better for me and my family." Either Adams had a change of heart, or a change of -- well, something. Lawrence is 1,888 miles from the Emerald City, while Athens, Ohio, is 2,493 miles, according to Google Maps. :01.0 Can the Butler do it? It's never easy replacing a legend, but Wichita State made it official Sunday, tapping Arkansas assistant Todd Butler as its new baseball coach. Butler's predecessor was Gene Stephenson, fired earlier this month after 36 seasons. Butler, 46, had been a head man before, at McNeese State, where he went 90-83 from 2001-03, and brings a reputation as a tenacious recruiter and salesman. His first pitch, though, will be to the natives: According to a poll of Wichita Eagle readers, out of 465 respondents as of late Sunday night, 120 or 26 percent noted that they "would have preferred (to see) someone with direct ties to the storied WSU program," and 53 more or 11 percent checked the box that said, "They lost me when they fired Gene Stephenson." Stephenson led the Shockers to a national title in 1989, but hadn't played in the College World Series since 1995 and hadn't reached the NCAA tourney since 2009.
