The 49ers' bye week concluded mainly without incident, except for a possible fracas in Columbia, Mo., involving outside linebacker Aldon Smith. No criminality was officially involved, and Smith maintains that nothing happened. A television reporter in Columbia said on Twitter that Smith was "jumped." Police reportedly were called to the El Rancho restaurant around 2 a.m. Friday. There was no report filed, and Smith maintained on his Twitter account that he was not "jumped." San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh said that general manager Trent Baalke spoke to Smith about what happened. Harbaugh said that Smith told the team exactly what he said publicly on Twitter. "I tend to take a man at his word," Harbaugh said. Since January, Smith has been pulled over for allegedly driving under the influence, been stabbed at a party he hosted in San Jose, and been involved in a single-car accident in the wee hours in which he sustained a cut above his eye. ...
