The 49ers played the second half of Sundays 20-10 win over the Browns without starting DE Ray McDonald, who left the game with a hamstring injury. McDonald was walking without a limp after the game, a sign that the hamstring strain isnt serious. If he misses next weeks game against the Redskins, Rick Jean Francois, who filled in Sunday, would start at left end. Jean Francois is tough and reliable, but he is not the pass-rush threat McDonald is. Source: Sporting News

SAN FRANCISCO -- Frank Gore received regular calls and encouragement from Roger Craig all offseason as he recovered from a fractured hip. Craig shared training tips, too. When Gore charged up the middle with his signature burst for a 2-yard gain Sunday, he took another step forward in franchise history by moving past Craig into second place on the 49ers career rushing list.

-The 49ers are 6-1 for the first time since 1998.
