It was not the sunniest of days for the San Francisco 49ers.
Still, coach Jim Harbaugh refused to let a daylong rain dampen plans to get the 49ers' offense untracked Wednesday.
Still smarting from a 24-13 loss at Minnesota on Sunday, Harbaugh directed a morning walkthough on the rain-slickened asphalt of a hotel parking lot. Then practice took place in rain at their home-away-from home, Stambaugh Stadium at nearby Youngstown State.
The 49ers moved practice to Ohio this week in preparation for playing the Jets in New York on Sunday.
Patrick Willis, Brandon Jacobs, Ted Ginn returned from injuries to work in full pads, though nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, nursing a left knee injury, did not.

BOARDMAN, Ohio - On this year's San Francisco 49ers business trip to Northeast Ohio, much is different than last year's maiden voyage.
Starting with attitudes and expectations.
For the second straight year, the 49ers are spending a week near the roots of the DeBartolo Family, the team's founders, in Youngstown, Ohio and practicing at Youngstown State University. It...
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh says both Patrick Willis and Isaac Sopoaga are doing fine after suffering leg injuries during Sunday’s loss to the Vikings.
“It turned out good for both of those guys,” Harbaugh said.
Looks like the Niners dodged a bullet, since both Willis and Sopoaga should be fine for this week’s game against the Jets.
San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh is back at work a day after undergoing a minor procedure for an irregular heartbeat.
The reigning NFL Coach of the Year returned to the field to lead San Francisco through Friday's walk-through session, with a full practice scheduled for the afternoon.
Harbaugh, who turns 49 on Dec. 23, was away from the team Thursday for his procedure...
Last week: 9 (+1)
The loss in Minnesota was not unpredictable. Minnesota is an underrated team and it was to be expected that the 49ers would be flat against a “bad” opponent after being anointed after 2 weeks. The loss has allowed them to fall back to earth, which is what they needed, and they should be able to get a bounce back win in New York against the Jets this...
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Last year, Jim Harbaugh got to know San Francisco safety Donte Whitner well during a week in Ohio in the middle of the season. And so many others, too.
Perhaps a little bit of bonding time together across the country will be good for Harbaugh's 49ers right now after a mistake-filled 24-13 loss Sunday at Minnesota. It was a rare moment in which the Niners...
Glendale, AZ. Before anyone gets overly excited about an undefeated team in the NFL right now, we are just two weeks into the regular season. Twenty teams entered the weekend at 1-1, which is a league record at this point of an early season. Possibly the most surprising of the unbeaten teams so far is the Arizona Cardinals. After down to the wire wins over Seattle and New England...
It looks like the 49ers have both Brandon Jacobs and Ted Ginn available this weekend against the New York Jets. The bad news is it is being reported that Isaac Sopoaga will not play on Sunday.
It should not come as a surprise that Jacobs is back in time for the New York Jets, I’m sure he has had this game circled on his calendar all season. With Jacobs back he should be able to...
Coach Jim Harbaugh wants the San Francisco 49ers to get focused, avoid obstacles and get back to winning.
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis participated in Wednesday’s practice after suffering a leg injury during last Sunday’s loss to the Vikings.
It looks like Willis will be good to go for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

The San Francisco 49ers were humbled this past Sunday as the Minnesota Vikings made an emphatic statement with a 24-13 victory in Minnesota. The 49ers, coming off two very tough games against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, now feel the sting of an underdogs bite. The Vikings played with purpose and determination all game long, relentlessly keeping the 49ers on their heels...
The San Francisco 49ers defense was looking like the best in the NFL by leaps-and-bounds, but they looked human against the Minnesota Vikings of all teams.
It was remarkable since Jim Harbaugh always struggled in the Metrodome, and history clearly repeated itself as they were stunned on the road 24-13.
Alex Smith looked like...
Minnesota Vikings 24, San Francisco 49ers 13In what was the most shocking upset of the day, Christian Ponder (231 total yards, 3 TDs) led the Vikings to an improbable victory over the 49ers, who most viewed as the top team at least in the NFC, if not the whole NFL. This wasn’t some “barely win” either, this was a domination for most of the game.Alex Smith (230 total yards...
San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith knows his team will likely need an improved performance from its offense this week, and the 49ers will try to deliver that against an opponent missing a major part of its defense.
The New York Jets won't have star cornerback Darrelle Revis to help stop Smith and the rest of San Francisco's playmakers Sunday or likely the rest of the season...
Do you think Rex Ryan gets a little green with envy when preparing for Jim Harbaugh's San Francisco 49ers?Since his introduction as Jets head coach prior to the 2010 season, Ryan has envisioned his team in a certain way: defensively labeled as a hard-nosed, smash-mouth unit that creates turnovers and beats up the quarterback -- and if they put a few players on their ass, no one...
