TEAMS: San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks
The San Francisco 49ers have several
key players listed as questionable as they prepare for this weekend’s matchup
against the Seattle Seahawks, including defensive end Justin Smith and wide
receiver Mario Manningham, while linebacker Aldon Smith is probable to suit up,
reports Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee.
Make of this what you will: Jim Harbaugh today said that
Justin Smith would be listed as questionable on the team's injury report,
and he was listed as such on the team's injury report this afternoon. An
earlier report the team sent to league listed Smith as doubtful.
Smith and Manningham are expected
to be active for Sunday’s matchup with the Seahawks. Smith is recovering from
an elbow injury while Manningham is plagued by a bum shoulder. Beyond Smith and
Manningham, defensive lineman Will Tukuafu (concussion) and linebackers Clark
Haggans (shoulder) and Taveras Gooden (ribs) are also questionable.
Everyone else listed on the 49ers
injury report is probable to play, including running back Frank Gore (wrist),
linebacker Patrick Willis (shoulder) and cornerback Carlos Rogers (knee).

49ers' Justin Smith expected to miss Sunday's game
The 49ers are preparing for Sunday's game against Seattle with the assumption that defensive end Justin Smith won't be available. Smith left last week's 41-34 victory over New England in the third quarter because of an undisclosed elbow injury and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Smith's departure from the game nearly coincided exactly with New England...
Justin Smith ruled out for tonight’s NFC West showdown against Seahawks
The Seahawks offense has been hot, very hot via the ground game and the San Francisco 49ers will be without their best defensive lineman Justin Smith according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Smith suffered an elbow injury suffered last Sunday night against the Patriots.
His status has been up in the air, but the 49ers will go without the services of Smith, who left the Patriots game...
Are the 49ers the top team in the NFL. Power Rankings.
The 49ers beat the Patriots last week. Is that enough to give them the top spot?
Here are my Power Rankings and a quick note about each team.
1) San Francisco - They are the most complete team in the league.
2) Texans - They are solid on both sides of the ball.
3) Patriots - Suspect defense keep them from the top spot.
4) Denver - On the rise, are they...
Justin Smith questionable for 49ers
San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois has been preparing all week to start in place of All-Pro Justin Smith on the NFL's second-ranked defense.
The 49ers remain uncertain whether that will actually happen Sunday night in a NFC West showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
Smith's availability is in question after he missed practice Friday because of an...

The 49ers beat the unbeatable Patriots last week and now have a chance to prove they are the Super Bowl favorite.
The season is coming to a close and I'm sitting at 142-82. That's over .600 but I can do better.

Jean Francois ready if Justin Smith is not
As reporters circled around Ricky Jean Francois in the 49ers locker room Friday, teammates Randy Moss, Colin Kaepernick and Mike Iupati each stopped by to call out good-natured questions from behind the crowd, drawing laughs all around. Nobody seems too worried about Jean Francois stepping in for stalwart defensive leader Justin Smith at Seattle on Sunday, particularly not Jean Francois.
49ers DE Justin Smith Sidelined Again, Might Not Play Sunday
All-Pro defensive tackle Justin Smith was not on the 49ers' field at the beginning of practice Thursday, casting serious doubt whether he will be available Sunday night to face the Seattle Seahawks.
Smith played the first four snaps of the second half against the New England Patriots before leaving the game with a left elbow injury. Coach Jim Harbaugh has been vague while...
David Akers Quits Twitter After Death Threat
I’ve had enough of this sh*t Juan…
According to the Sacramento Bee, Akers decided enough was enough after receiving a death threat.
Kicker David Akers, who has struggled in recent games, re-tweeted this message around 7 p.m. Wednesday: RT @RIP_FreeLaddin YOU F—-OT IF YOU MISS ONE MORE FIELD GOAL YOU ABOUT TO GET YOUR ENTIRE LIFE ENDED. Akers appears to have disabled his Twitter...
San Francisco 49ers: Week 16 NFL Power Rankings (#1)
Last week: 2 (+1)
Record: 10-3-1
Net points per drive: 0.90 (2nd)
DVOA: 34.8% (4th)
Weighted DVOA: 35.1% (4th)
The 49ers won last week and earned this spot, at least until they lose in Seattle this week. Then would Seattle be #1 even though you can’t trust them to win a single road playoff game, let alone 3 (4 if you include the neutral site Super Bowl)? Would it be the Patriots...
Game Ticket Preview: 49ers vs Seahawks
The last time the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks met, it was an ugly defensive battle that the 49ers narrowly took away as a win, 13-6. This time around, the 49ers (as seen last week versus the Patriots) will bring a much more dynamic offense to the table with second-year quarterback Colin Kaepernick, while equally impressive rookie quarterback Russell Wilson will try to...
'The Hawk' getting hit for his big hits
Dashon Goldson has a stack of manila envelopes in his locker, filing away the paperwork every time the NFL has fined the 49ers’ Pro Bowl free safety. While he has heard from the league office more than a dozen times in his six-year career, the letters often had little to do with his hard-hitting ways until this season.
49ers Kicker David Akers Quits Twitter After Receiving Death Threat
For some reason, a number of internet users think they can say and do whatever they want just because “it’s on the internet.” Well, the internet can give you a mask of anonymity, but a death threat is a death threat.
San Francisco 49ers kicker David Akers apparently decided the connection between himself and fans wasn’t worth the trouble of having his life threatened when...
