After exacerbating a pelvis injury last week, 49ers placekicker David Akers was really hurting following the 49ers 16-13 overtime loss to the Rams on Sunday.
For the second time in four games, Akers missed an overtime field-goal attempt against the Rams. On Sunday, his 51-yard attempt with 4:16 left drifted just right. On Nov. 11, Akers pushed a 41-yarder left in a 24-24 tie at Candlestick Park.
Its a game of inches, and I probably missed it by 3 or 4 inches to the right, Akers said. Just feel horrible for letting my teammates, organization and fans down. I thought I hit it great.
Instead, Akers collected his latest miss in a forgettable season where he has made just 15 of his past 24 field-goal attempts, including 4 of his past 7 from 40 to 49 yards. Source: San Francisco Chronicle Attached Thumbnails

The mad, mad world of Jim Harbaugh – and why he’s right
I don’t think there was ever a question there. I think it’s just a lot of gobble gobble turkey. Just gobble, gobble, gobble turkey from jive turkey gobblers … that paints a pretty good picture. He’s a very confident guy.
- Jim Harbaugh on Alex Smith’s confidence.
On the same day he declined to publicly name a starting quarterback, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh informed incumbent...
Jim Harbaugh's hot hand could be getting cold
Jim Harbaugh got caught up in the moment, now he has no way out. Quarterback controversies are tricky situations that don't need fuel to further ignite them. Harbaugh got so giddy over Colin Kaepernick, he literally handed him the starting quarterback position. However, after losing to St. Louis, he may realize that he may have rushed the very decision he created, and thus put...

Kaepernick still an unknown for 49ers
ST. LOUIS Colin Kaepernick stumbled. He also glided in the open field, threw fist pumps and showed flashes of what can be a rich future.
Kaepernick walked from the Edward Jones Dome as the reason for the San Francisco 49ers loss. He also left as someone worthy of coach Jim Harbaughs trust.
Be smart with the ball, said the second-year quarterback, after losing to the St. Louis...
49ers vs. Rams: Thumbs up and thumbs down
Which way does the thumb turn for the 49ers after their 16-13 overtime loss at St. Louis on Sunday, including David Akers missing again in the clutch, a dagger through the heart of the NFC West leaders, a ridiculous pitch with victory at hand, Colin Kaepernick’s keen escapability, Dashon Goldson not thinking on his feet, classic Aldon Smith, Ted Ginn just not the same and much...
That’s what the San Fransisco 49ers get for being greedy
Alex Smith (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Now if you have listened to my show at all in the last two weeks on the BTR Network (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/letstalknfl), you know exactly where I am about to go. The whole benching Alex Smith this late in the season for basically a rookie is just asinine. Now I am not an Alex Smith fan by any means, but common sense is common sense...
Kaepernick still 49ers starting QB
Colin Kaepernick will continue starting at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, coach Jim Harbaugh announced Monday. Kaepernick started his third straight game for the 49ers on Sunday but questions arose after the 16-13 overtime loss to the St. Louis Rams. Harbaugh decided to stay with Kaepernick after watching film of the game in which Kaepernick completed 21 of 32 passes...
Dobbs arrested on 25th birthday, out for Rams
Second-year 49ers veteran Demarcus Dobbs was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana, the California Highway Patrol said, and he did not travel to St. Louis with the team later in the day and won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Rams.

49ers WR Mario Manningham's Status Up In The Air After Suffering Shoulder Injury
The 49ers compensated for the losses of receiver Kyle Williams and running back Kendall Hunter with a little more Ted Ginn and Brandon Jacobs.
Now, receiver Mario Manningham's status is uncertain after sustaining a shoulder injury that forced him out of action in the fourth quarter of the 49ers' 16-13 overtime loss to St. Louis Rams.

49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh Says He's Sticking With QB Colin Kaepernick
It appears Jim Harbaugh is staying with Colin Kaepernick despite his uneven performance against the Rams.
The 49ers and Kaepernick, who finished was 21 of 32 for 208 yards, failed to adjust to the Rams in the second half and also failed to stay in bounds at the end of regulation, which allowed the Rams enough time to go down the field for the tying score.
Kaepernick also air...
Rams edge 49ers 16-13 in overtime
Jeff Fisher apologized for predicting an entirely different game after the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers went to overtime for the second time in three weeks.
No apology necessary after the Rams bounded off the field in a mood to celebrate instead of tying again.

49ers Fall In Overtime To Rams 16-13 After Kaepernick's Mistake-Filled Day
For the second time in three weeks, the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers battled past regulation in a hard-fought NFC West tussle but unlike their Week 10 meeting, Sunday's eerily similar tilt ended with a winner, as Greg Zuerlein connected on a 54-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining in OT to give the Rams a 16-13 victory at Edward Jones Dome.
Both Zuerlein and...
