The San Francisco 49ers re-signed safety C.J. Spillman to a three-year contract extension worth $6 million through the 2014 season, with $1.8 million guaranteed. Spillman was claimed off waivers by the 49ers on Oct.12, 2010.  He has played in all 27 regular season contests since joining San Francisco and leads the team with 40 specials teams tackles over the past two seasons. In 2011, the 6-0, 199 lbs. safety spearheaded the special teams unit as he led the team with 19 special teams tackles.  According to NFL game books, he also tied for second in the league with 14 special teams stops last year. “C.J. is a high-energy, productive player with a strong team-first mentality who is still developing,” said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke, via team’s press release. “We are pleased to come to terms with C.J. for another three years, and look forward to his continued contributions to our organization, both on and off the field.” A Louisville, KY native, Spillman entered the NFL as an u...
