Rookie Quinton Patton eager to work(AP Photo) The 49ers rookie wide receiver Quinton Patton has already made a lasting impression on coach Jim Harbaugh, who told KNBR raidio on Wednesday that Patton is already he’s favorite guy. Patton was the 49ers fourth round pick from Louisiana Tech, unfortunately the young man was a little too eager to begin working with his new team, and was told to go home by coach Harbaugh. See the rules state that rookies are allowed to meet the teams right after the draft, but that period has past. If Patton would have arrived at the facilities he would not have been allowed to participate in the teams rookie mini-camp next week. According to Harbaugh the conversation went something like this: “We had to go, ‘You’re where? What airport did you fly in to? You’re in a rental car driving here?’” Harbaugh said. “‘Yeah, coach, 20 minutes away.’ We go, ‘He can’t be here, he can’t come here. He’s not allowed to be at our facility.’” Even though Patton wasn’t allowed at the teams facility, he earned big points with coach Harbaugh. “The fact that he would buy his own ticket, fly out here, just to me speaks volumes about him,” Harbaugh said. “I mean, to be honest with you, he reminds me of me. That’s something I would have done.” Harbaugh said he intends to hug Patton as soon as he arrives for mini-camp next week.
