He signed a three-year deal and will look to help the Niners out on the defensive line. Coach Jim Harbaugh, speaking Saturday evening after the draft, that he felt “inadequate” when he met the 6-foot-6, 305-pound Okoye on a recent visit to the 49ers’ team offices. “This is an Adonis, a great physical specimen of a man,” Harbaugh said. “Our creator created a beautiful man.” Okoye, 21, was an accomplished rugby player who decided to begin throwing the discus. Two years later, he became the British discus record-holder and placed 12th in the London Olympics. He has never played football, but Harbaugh said giving him a chance to learn from defensive line coach Jim Tomsula may enable him to become a top-level football player, too. “You start to put the pieces together and say, ‘Taking on football at this time in his l...

49ers upgrade pass rush draft Tank Carradine

The San Francisco 49ers used the 40th overall pick on Florida State defensive end Tank Carradine. My guess is that the 49ers will use Carradine at both defensive end and linebacker in passing situations. Carradine took somewhat of a fall in this year’s draft because of concerns over his knee after tearing a ligament last season.     Need NFL Tickets? The post 49ers upgrade...

NFC West 2013 Draft Grades

The NFC West is vastly becoming the toughest division in football. The San Francisco 49ers went to the Super Bowl in 2012, Seattle Seahawks were one ill-timed time out call away from facing the 49ers in the NFC Championship game, the Rams did not technically lose a single game against the 49ers in 2012 and the Arizona Cardinals started the season 4-0. Every team got better through...

49ers sign British discus thrower Lawrence Okoye

There are always a few notable undrafted free agent signings across the NFL, but none carries with it the level of intrigue than that of former British discus thrower Lawrence Okoye, who inked a deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Okoye burst onto the scene during the super regional combine in Dallas. He’s a massive individual – standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 305 pounds ...

How B.J. Daniels Will Fit In San Francisco's Offense

Former South Florida Quarterback B.J Daniels displayed his talents on the field both running with the football, and throwing the football in Tampa.
