In the 27-13 win for the Niners it was pretty clear who the hero was. The defense played stoutly as it usually does. Aldon Smith came through with 2 sacks. The one player who outshined them all, in my opinion. was San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He demonstrated why coach Jim Harbaugh had enough faith in him to take over the reigns as the starter in place of Alex Smith. Kaepernick was efficient going 18-23, 185 YDs 78% Comp PCT, 100.2 QBR. Even more impressive, however, was his mobility. The 50 yard touchdown run with 2:10 left in the 4th quarter was a thing of beauty. The man can flat out fly. He ran the spread option play to perfection and was untouched for the full 50 yards. Young Kaepernick showed that, with his 3-1 record through 4 games, Coach Harbaugh's trust has not been misplaced. He was easily the star of the show!!On the other end of the spectrum is the goat of this game. The zero!! The man that really cost the Dolphins a chance at getting back in the game. Punt returner Marcus Thigpen is the man that fits that title. After a Niners field goal to close the first half at 6-3 by David Akers, the Dolphins opened the second half with a defensive stop and forced the Niners to punt. Thigpen settled under the ensuing kick and muffed it allowing the Niners to recover the ball on the Dolphins 8 yard line. Scoring from that point was pretty elementary. The Niners cashed in that field position with a Frank Gore 1 yard touchdown and took a 13-3 lead at that point. The Niners were never really threatened from that point in the game. Thigpen's miscue was the biggest turning point in the football game; that is why he is the " Zero of the Game!! "
