(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By JANIE McCAULEY AP Sports Writer Vernon Davis might get fewer style points these days for his touchdown celebrations - and he's perfectly fine with that. The emotional San Francisco tight end learned from his blunder with the crossbar after scoring in a Week 1 win against the Packers at Lambeau Field. So, each time he scored in Sunday night's 27-19 victory against the Detroit Lions, Davis opted to shoot jump shots over the bar. Complete with a perfect, pretty follow-through. Davis said ahead of time that he might think twice about dunking the football over the goal post after all the razzing he took the previous week from teammates. Especially from Randy Moss and Michael Crabtree. He even heard about it on the team plane.

Randy Moss’ ‘Rand University’ introduction may not mean what you think

During the introductions of the Sunday Night Football broadcast, Randy Moss said he attended “Rand University” when the player introduction graphics were being shown at the bottom of the screen. Fans immediately interpreted “Rand” as some variation of the future Hall of Famer’s name. When you think about it like that, the straight cash homey jokes practically write themselves...

Vikings know they must be cautious of Moss

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. No team in the NFL understands how motivated receiver Randy Moss gets for big games better than the Minnesota Vikings, his club for the first seven seasons of his career and one ill-fated month in 2010.Minnesota has been the beneficiary of many of those big moments, such as when he scored two touchdowns in his first regular-season game and when he made his "...

NFL Rumors: Is Randy Moss Upset Over Lack of Playing Time?

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Randy Moss received little attention on the free agent market this season after announcing he wanted to return to the NFL for another season. Moss has long had a reputation for being broodish, selfish and very aloof. He is a very talented receiver but he has seemingly always been a player that required special handling as you never know when he might...

Moss ready to face former Vikings team with 49ers

Randy Moss is prepared for cheers, he's prepared for boos. He is embracing all the hype surrounding his return to Minnesota, where his illustrious career began 14 years ago. Moss is headed back to the Metrodome on Sunday in his No. 84 jersey for the San Francisco 49ers, eager to step onto the very field where he played some of his best games in seven-plus seasons with the Vikings...

Moss eager for return to Metrodome

Randy Moss appreciates the start he got with the Vikings, but he anticipates a mix of cheers and boos. Either way, he said, it means he’s doing something right.

San Francisco 49ers prepare for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday

This Sunday the San Francisco 49ers travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings at Mall of America Field. A dome in which the atmosphere is notoriously noisy, as fans make it very challenging for opposing offenses to operate at their highest efficiency. To make matters worse, the Vikings welcome back their forgotten son Randy Moss, who although a fan favorite in Minnesota, will...

Randy returns

Randy Moss returns to the Metrodome for the first time in the regular season as a visitor. Will he be the Moss of old or just an old Moss?

Vikings still respect Moss’ abilities

Despite taking a year off from the game, Randy Moss is still generating respect, even from defenders on a team that cut him two years ago.

Randy Moss introduces school as “Rand University” during SNF (video)

It’s nothing new for NFL players to have funny introductions during Sunday and Monday Night Football. Instead of the typical ” Santana Moss, Da U,” players often go with an introduction that is a whole lote more memorable. For example, Nate Burleson introduced his elementary school, Jared Allen, ‘culinary academy,’ Ike Taylor, ‘swaggin‘ and Terrell Suggs ‘ball so...

Jim Harbaugh says Randy Moss isn’t worried about being “the guy”

A reporter asked San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh if wide receiver Randy Moss is worried about being “the guy” on his team. “Nobody around here ever gets caught up with ‘The Guy’ terminology,” Harbaugh said, iva the San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s about us; it’s about the team. And Randy, there’s no evidence that he’s concerned about ‘The Guy’...

Despite weapons, 49ers grounded in attack

The 49ers added Randy Moss, Mario Manningham and A.J. Jenkins to their receiving corps, but the numbers show they are still a run-first team.

Can the San Francisco 49ers go 16-0?

It’s absolutely insane to start to believe if the San Francisco 49ers can do what has only been done twice since the NFL-AFL merger in going undefeated in a season, but the way the 49ers have been playing is making the impossible seem probable. We are talking about a football team that completely shut down the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions offenses that had two of the most...
