Getty Images Terrible timing and horrible allegations are proving to be a distraction for the 49ers right before the NFC championship game.  San Francisco’s wide receiver Michael Crabtree has been questioned by police regarding a sexual assault allegation. The assault allegedly occurred early last Sunday, hours after the 49ers’ victory over Green Bay.  The victim did not notify police until a few days after the alleged assault.  The San Francisco Police Department interviewed Crabtree shortly thereafter with his lawyer present. The officer who conducted the interview did not give any details concerning a timeline for the investigation, other than it is active and that Crabtree is being cooperative.  There have been no arrests or charges thus far. The 49ers landed in Atlanta Friday night, and it is reported that Crabtree did make the trip with the team.  San Francisco released a statement on the subject, which doesn’t provide much insight at all. “We are aware of the allegation against Michael and understand that he has fully cooperated with authorities,” GM Trent Baalke said Friday in the statement.  ”The 49ers take such matters very seriously.  We will have no further comment at this time as the legal process is ongoing.  Additional requests for comment should be directed to Michael’s attorney.” Should hard evidence arise making these allegations a reality, Crabtree’s career would be in severe jeopardy.  It is well-known that  49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has a zero-tolerance for laying hands on a woman.  If the allegations are true, Crabtree will not be on the roster.  He is, however, innocent until proven guilty, and is expected to play Sunday for the NFC crown.
