We've heard the same story in every way, shape and form for the last four years. The Cowboys are good early in the season but they can't get it done in December. But still no one really knows if this year is going to be any different. The Raider game was a relief because the offense seemed to finally find its stride once again. The defense continued its impressive play but it is hard to judge how they really played since it was a terrible Raiders team they beat. But this is the same Raider team that beat Cincinnati the week before and embarrassed the Eagles earlier in the season. So it wasn't like the game was a foregone conclusion as much as we all wanted to believe it was.So will things be different this year? There really is no way to answer that question. But we do have some indicators tha...

Mat McBriar admires Shane Lechler

Mat McBriar has a strong leg. If he wanted - or was asked - he could hit the 90-foot digital board at Cowboys Stadium or launch 69-yard punts. But even McBriar was stunned at the performance of Oakland punter Shane Lechler Thursday. Lechler punted nine times for 493 yards and had a long of 69 yards. He also had punts of 66, 59 and 55 yards. It looked as if Lechler's punts...

Charting Romo

ARLINGTON - Thursday's game marked Tony Romo's 50th career start for the Cowboys. In that span, he's completed 1,031-of-1,642 passes for 13,233 yards, 95 touchdowns and 50 interceptions, putting him in some heady company. In the Super Bowl era, he has thrown for the third-most TDs and the fourth-most yards through 50 starts. No. 1 on that yardage list is Kurt Warner...

Witten will play

IRVING - Cowboys TE Jason Witten is suited up and ready to go. No real surprise there. He hasn't missed a game since his rookie season and has played through a variety of injuries that would have sidelined most players. Last season alone, he fought throught a broken rib, sprained shoulder and a sore jaw. Here are the inactives for the Cowboys: S Ken Hamlin (foot), CB Cletis...

Defense doing its part too

ARLINGTON - The Cowboys' big offensive plays have overshadowed another fine effort by the defense. Oakland failed to cross midfield in the first half, meaning the Cowboys are on track for their first shutout since they blanked Washington 27-0 on Dec. 14, 2003, Bill Parcells' first year as head coach. Dallas' only Thanksgiving Day shut out came on Nov. 25, 1999 when...

Former UT star making fired up

ARLINGTON - Sorry Cowboys fans, it's not Roy Williams. But at least there's one UT alum at Cowboys Stadium making Longhorn fans proud. That would be Raiders S Michael Huff, who has already broken up a couple of passes.

Cowboys go to 8-3 with rout of Raiders

The Cowboys can be thankful for Miles Austin, whose 145 yards and a score help Dallas wallop the Raiders and improve to 8-3.

Another replay issue

What the heck is going on out there, to quote Vince Lombardi. Two weeks ago we had the Jeff Triplette's mix-up in Green Bay and the Felix Jones non-fumble recovery. Sunday it was the review of the Jason Campbell sack/non sack that led to a seven-minute delay. And never should have been reviewed anyway by Alberto Riveron. Now we have a Miles Austin touchdown or 14-yard catch...
