Another reason why the Broncos should have picked Chris Williams

By now, you all probably know that the Broncos took tackle Ryan Clady first round in this year's draft. But as a Broncos fan, I really didn't like the pick at all. In my opinion, they should have chosen Chris Williams, a tackle from Vanderbilt, who actually played great competition in college when he faced SEC opponents during his career. Offensive linemen have to be smart, too. Williams scored a 32 on the wonderlic test, as opposed to Clady, who scored a 13. So what were the Broncos thinking? I don't have any answer to that question, but here's a video of Ryan Clady in a one on one interview after he was drafted by the Broncos to just show how dumb he really is.

Ryan Clady is dumb

Most people think Clady will be the best O-linemen out of this draft in a few years. He converted from defense, and still has a few things to learn.

As a Broncos fan though, I think Williams would have been a much better pick for us...he's actual played and excelled against tough competition in the SEC....and as you can tell from the vid, Clady is dumb and has played very little tough competition in his career

I agree with this as well. Williams has proven himself against top competition in the SEC while Clady didn't get much competition in the WAC. Plus offensive linemen are supposed to be some of the smartest players on the offense other then the quarterback. With Williams you don't have to worry about possible character issues as he is already engaged as well.

Great points, FB, good to hear that you see it the same way

I'm with you, TC. I thought they should have taken Williams. Or maybe B.A. from UVA. But not Clady.

Seriously, he is dumb as hell

Send his butt to Dallas. We need an offensive lineman. Obviously, Vanderbilt has better educational requirements than Boise St. and I think Williams would have been the better pick, too. I guess we'll find out in September if Clady can play any.

TC, don't lose faith!! Remember, Lord Shanny is the one who revamped the Broncos O-line into the force that it had been for over a decade right up to last season. In my opinion, Williams was the better pick, but Shanahan does have a pretty good track record. I am going to trust him until I see otherwise on the field.

True. The Broncos have always had a decent offensive line. Looks like he needs a little work on his run blocking, but is rated a bigtime pass blocker by most publications.

I sure hope so. I really like Jay Cutler and it was killing me last season to see him getting clobberd on every passing play and that was with a very successful running game. God help the poor kid if the running game ever faltered.

Remember the Emmitt Smith Rule: It doesn't matter how dumb/bad with the English language you are. If you can ball, you can ball.

williams is to slow for broncos zone blocking scheme. with some good coaching clady will be a better fit in time.
