Bad choice?? Donovan over T.O.??

I've just been thinking here. As a die-hard Eagles fan and insane NFL lover, I find it hard to think about anything not NFL related ;)

Did the Eagles make the wrong choice when they let T.O. go and held onto McNabb??? I'm actually leaning toward yes at this point.

When T.O. was run out of town, McNabb was treated like a victim, like T.O. had somehow assaulted him. All T.O. did was pretty much what he has done everywhere he has been, he TOLD THE TRUTH. When he thought his QB wasn't getting it done, he said so. When he wanted the ball more, he said so. And what did he do??? He put up HUGE numbers and tried to get his team a Lombardi trophy. He was crucified in this city for criticizing the "Icon" Andy and Lurie have bought into so blindly. Anyone who levies criticism on McNabb in this town gets shown the door. 3 people mentioned how "tired" and "out of it" McNabb was in the SB, Mitchell, T.O., & Hank Fraley. All of whom were then let go.

All T.O. does is speak his mind and put up numbers. He's not a cancer like everyone thought he was. And he's not a guy that bitches and moans about garbage and doesn't perform on the field. He may not be the smartest guy with what he says, but he is one of the biggest playmaking WRs in recent history.

I know hindsight is 20-20, but I think the Eagles would've been just fine had they dealt Mcnabb to the Bears for Briggs and a pick, Held on to T.O. and Garcia (despite their history, I think it would've worked out), and drafted Kolb for the future. McNabb is ALWAYS hurt and recently seems to put the blame on everyone but himself. I'm just sick of the whole "victim" mantra with him.

Ship his ass out ASAP!!!

Um, other than the fact that T.O backstabbed Andy, went to sleep in meetings , Wanted more money one year after signing one, Demanded McNabb take a paycut to pay him . fought Hugh Douglas, stated he was going to be a problem until he got paid.
Got injured 8 weeks before the superbowl, Threw every QB on evry team he has ever played on including Dallas ( Drew ) , including a quick stop in Baltimore sh*tting on Ray Lewis , being a Bi polar nut job.

Other than that , you might be right .

Holla

I COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF...WHO IS THIS CLOWN POSTING THIS...T.O. OR MCNABB? HA! IF THEY DID KEEP T.O. WHO WAS GOING TO THROW HIM THE BALL? ROMO IS NOT ON THE EAGLES!!

HE WOULD'VE IMPLODED THE EAGLES THEN STILL LEFT FOR THE COWBOYS AND THE EAGLES WOULD'VE BEEN WITHOUT MCNABB AND T.O. AND WOULD BE LOOKING LIKE THE DOLPHINS RIGHT ABOUT NOW.

HA TO is a low class clown, drama queen!!!!!!! NO FRIKEN way did the eagles make the wrong decision

Let me find out you bought into the Bullshit tear fest he put on after he lost the other day. Point is T.O. signed that contract cuase he wanted to, if he didnt like the terms he shouldnt have signed the damn thing. Yeah that was good he came back early to hel p the team, but to act like he did was wrong. And now years later he's kissing Romo's ass....please get a grip, I'm not a McNabb fan, but when someone say they will purposely cause problems if they dont get paid its time to go. I say the only reason he was crying is that he finally realized he may not have that much time left to get that ring.

that's ridiculous. Eagles made the right choice

I think you need the same meds as T.O.

No way in hell do I give up a franchise qb for a suicidal crybaby like T.O.
The Eagles were winning way b4 the crybaby arrived. The only reason
he's POLE HOLDING Romo is because he know this is his last chance
and that time is running out. He will never win a ring he blew it when
he ruined Philly.

HA perfect!!!!! thot721

were you bored when you wrote this because it is all bs

I didn't buy into the crying, I've bought into the PLAYING!!

MCNABB IS ALWAYS HURT? HERE'S A STAT FOR YOU, IN T.O. 12 SEASON IN THE LEAGUE, HE ONLY PLAYED 5, YES 5 FULL SEASONS! THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING WRONG WITH OWENS. HIS HAND, HIS HAMSTRING, HIS ANKLE, SOMETHING!

So are you saying McNabb is not always hurt? Because he is. McNabb cost you the Super Bowl why was he so tired T.O. had not played a game in 8 weeks and he was not tired so why was Mcnabb?

Well, our boy Roy Williams did do him in with that horse-collar when he was with Philly. A moment to remember!!!

Roy who? that Fraud couldn't tackle a 5-yr old.

ROY PRO BOWL WILLIAMS RECOGNIZE BATCH!

Thats the only tackle he knows how to make, yet another over-paid fraud

Was nice being in Philly and watching him INT McNabb and then run right by him for the winning TD though.

This is hilarious. Is this dude serious? TO over Donny? You must not be anywhere near Philly, or maybe you have selective hearing, seeing, reading, listening, comprehending, etc. TO caused a big stir when he could have been a pro, kept quiet, honored his contract, and focused on bringing a title to Philly, not a headline related to his selfishness.

dig that !!!!!!!!!

As a lifelong eagles fan from SC, I must admit Gerry Krauss can't be a true eagles fan, T O ruined it for himself with the crying and shades gig. To a real eagles fan, seeing him cry and squint with the shades is the funniest thing in the world. Just take a moment and look at the picture, He looks like the kid who got yelled at or picked on and tried to hold back his tears HAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA Hilarious!! TO ruined his own image. What a jerk! I think he was Angrybecause he wasn't invited to mexico with Pony Homo! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Gerry,

Do you remember the mockery that TO made of training camp a few months after the Super Bowl? How he did his best to divide the locker room? And for what? Not honoring a contract that he signed less than a year earlier? Yeah, he's caught some passes since he left but has he helped the Cowgirls win a Super Bowl? How about a playoff game? BTW, did he help the Eagles win a playoff game...uh, no, he was injured when they won the NFC championship.

Maybe if/when the Eagles surround DMac with more talent, he'll shut you up.

Thats BS Eagles made the right decision. Eagles Surround McNabb with playmakers will be drinking Champayne when He leads us to the Super Bowl. If you believe that we should have kept T.O you are seriously on something he stabbed Philly in the back so many times!

Hahaha.........I love this shit!!!! Thanks for getting all of these folks worked up, Gerry.

I think you've all overestimated T.o.'s effects on the team. I AM a die hard fan and I live and work in Philly and I'm a season ticket holder. I'm not saying we should have kept T.O., I said "I'm leaning towards believing that it would've been better for us to go with him over McNabb"

McNabb is a choke artist, McNabb's favorite receiver is the turf 2 yards in front of the wideouts, he holds onto the ball too long in the pocket, he is ALWAYS hurt, and now he's becoming a "talker" and not a player. Blaming everyone but himself. Oh poor McNabb getting criticized. And of course it's because "society" treats black quarterbacks differently.

My bottom line is Mcnabb is certainly not the answer here anymore and HE is becoming the problem. Screw this playmaker crap, the Pats won 3 SBs with just as many playmakers as McNabb has had (This year's Pats are different however). So drop the playmaker stuff already.

I'm fed up with it all because I actually care about the team's future and right now it doesn't have a bright one with him at the helm. It's frustrationg giving them $1500.00 of my hard earned money every year to watch them fall short. This year was particularly frustrating with them decideding once they were out of playoff contention to screw Kolb and play McNabb so we could get the worst pick of all non-playoff teams. Great strategy!!!!

It's time to move on folks. Get off McNabb's jock. His shine wore off about 2 years ago.

So let me get the straight. Now that the season is over you're mad at McNabb for talking more than he's playing? Maybe you'd be happy if he ran onto the field during the Super Bowl, took the ball and ran with it...

OMG LMAO!!!!!!

Give up your season tickets and let a real fan buy them

Thanx bozman for reminding that the suicidal crybaby didn't play
in any playoff games leading up to the SB

He played pretty god damn well in the Superbowl though didn't he? And the 1st half of the season.

Hey Gerry yall booed him when he drafted so he wasn't liked from the start. If yall don't want him it is plenty of team that would love his service. Pleeeeeze trade him to the NFC central so I don't have to come all the way to Philly once a yr to see him. Plus yall some wild ass crazy fans

Let's trade him to the Lions for Roy Williams and a draft pick ;)

Sure, and I guess I'll be the guy who throws it to Roy. I have almost as much experience as Kolb.

Gerry-

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I especially know that because I have many strong ones. But sometimes your opinion reflects a few things about you, and one of them is your memory.

Do you not remember that just over a year ago, in November 2006, McNabb tore his ACL? Do you know how hard it is to rehab from an injury like that and then come back just 8 months later to training camp? I sure as hell dont because I never had the injury, but you can bet it took ALOT of dedication EVERYDAY.

Do you not remember, as a season ticket holder, that the past decade has been amazing largely in part to his play overall? This guy came into Philly after being booed by everyone, and led the team to the doorstep of the SB in his second year starting!

Ohh, and his 3rd, 4th, and then finally, in his 5th year we got there. In the modern NFL, that streak of continuous winning and Championship games is unprecedented. After we made it in 2004, if TO would have handled himself like a pro, there is very much the possibility, and this is realistic, that we have a trophy right now. You know why? Becuase in his first season as an Eagles, the connection from 5 to 81 was dominant.

And even after he went down and couldnt play the playoffs, we knew inside we wouldnt lose to the Vikings or the Falcons. If TO would have just eaten his pride a little bit, and been happy knowing that the future was so, so bright, there is a good chance the Donovan wouldnt be getting as many naysayers as he is now.

And also dont forget that if you give the reigns to a rookie QB, your $1500 for season tickets is pretty much down the drain FAR more than if you stand by our franchise QB, and watch him lead us back to the playoffs next year.

Thanks,

True Eagles Fans

Got to say this is quite amusing, but there a lot of teams that would have taken McNabb the last 8-10 years. I'm a Dallas fan and I would have taken his ass here over the carousel of QB's that have come through Dallas before Romo. I think I would damn sure give him one more year, especially coming off of the kind of inury he sustained. He was starting to get his legs back in the last 3-4 games. I'll admit, I do a lot of trashing on McNabb, but I think you are dead wrong if you don't want to give him another year. Peace out.

Must... not... commend... Dallas fan... for making... good... point!

Im calling Matt right now. You wanna talk about bum, Roy huh we'll give him up in a heartbeat
bcuz u know were drafting another one this yr.

I remember it all JUSTGETUS1. I disagree with McNabb LED us. He isn't a leader and never has been. He's shown that time and again on the field. We got to where we were because Andy and his staff were terrific at combining non-superstars in a spectacular system to play efficient winning football.

He was very good in the beginning but injuries have taken their toll and I know longer beleive he can lead us to the promised land. I'd rather watch a rookie KNOWING we're rebuilding then watch McNabb gets us nothing but a crappy draft pick and no trophy by winning just enough games to keep the job.

As for folks quesitoning my memory, I've been here and saw and remember it all. And these past 8-10 years have led me to my opinions. I'm not on crack and I'm not an idiot when it comes to knowing football. These are my thoughts and I know it's not the "popular opinion" but I'm sure there's plenty of people who share my feelings out there. I even know of a few.

I think a majority of the fans would disagree with you, but I can see where a few would be disgruntled. It's also frustrating that he didn't win a Super Bowl, but neither did Dan Marino and it took John Elway how long? If I was going to blame anyone in Philly , it might be Lurie, Reid, or the G.M. No QB can do it without guns.

DAMMIT!!

Well said...

I'm gonna go take a shower.

T.O. went about getting a raise the wrong way. If I want a raise I bust my ass keep my mouth shut and let my numbers talk. If he had done that the EAGLES would have won the last 2 bowls.

If he would've stayed healthy. You just never know.

My only comment to that is why hasn't Westbrook received a huge raise. It's because Heckert is really Mr. Burns from the Simpsons in disguise.

Heckert better get his checkbook out. It's time to play Monopoly.

This will help everyone understand Philadelphia!

LMAO.........now , that's some funny shit!!!

Hahaha.............that was funny, too.

Gerry, I respect your opinion, I just honestly don't see how McNabb has done anything but good for our team, overall. We were the ass-crack of the league in 1997 and 1998, and then BAM, we draft this smiley kid out of Syracuse and all of the sudden, the STAFF you mention, which I agree ahs done a great job through the years, now has a prototypical QB for their system.

Reid wouldn't be what he has been in Philly without McNabb and vice versa. One cant succeed without the other, but one thing is for sure- the players make the plays. The schemes are crucial yes, but the talent is what gets it done, and from childhood, Donovan has been a pure talent.

The injuries are frustrating, and it has killed me as well. I cant stand it. But its part of the game. Some players have better luck than others in that regard. McNabb has had a rough stint since 04 for sure. But the man deserves our respect. After all, we're just fans. He has the pressure on him to perform, and he plays in the 5th largest city in the nation.

That's alot to consider. I think this year is a make-or-break year for #5. I am fully confident after seeing what I did in December, which was critical for his confidence in both his knee AND his play, that next season we will see a comeback year for Donovan. He is 100% healthy, has an explosive RB, a fast, smart, and young defense, and recent history on his side when it comes to getting into this little January Tournament we all salivate for.

I'm behind Donovan all the way, and anyone else who puts on that jersey showing dedication to the fans and the team.

The key for #5 to stay healthy!!! GET HIM SOME BIG TIME PLAYMAKERS!! You saw what he did with T.O. !! He won't scramble as much if he has more weapons!!! Then, he'll stay healthy!!!!

Agree! They need someone big and fast. I still like Roy Williams better than Ocho Cinco...
