With all due respect, the Jets did not spend $140 million plus in free agency to rebuild. Heading into training camp Jets are rebuilt. They hardly have the worst QB's in the league so if the team around them can play better (improved o-line and ground game, improved pass rush) the QB's should be much better as well. Don't sleep on Jets in '08.

This is (another) great time of year for speculation when it comes to the New York Jets. Yes we had it leading up to the free agent signing period. Who would Jets sign? Who would be traded? Who would Jets trade for? Next we had the speculators dream, the 2008 NFL Draft. Now in this down period after Organized Team Activities have dried up why not fan the flames of speculation with this tidbit: The Jets need to trade for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin. The disgruntled young star is unhappy with the Cards (I'll pause so you can recover from the shock of that statement…Ok let's get back) and his contract situation. Talks are going nowhere and now it looks like Boldin will not report to training camp. The Jets who are desperate for help at wideout and can seriously use an offenisve upgrade like Boldin should pick up the phone and see what it would take. Bryan Thomas anyone? Ok…maybe it would take more than Thomas but it doesn't hurt to ask. No guts no glory.
The NFL teams are all doing something very cool and very smart by making their rookies visit Canton, Ohio to see someplace every pro football player dreams of being a permanent resident of: the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Dustin Keller enjoyed his visit and I still say the Jets shiny new tight end has the speed to run by linebackers and the size to run through or drag defensive backs all in a frame that houses hands as soft as goose down. If you play fantasy football don't sleep on Keller.
A guy who I have always loved and look to continue to take strides to being a fixture in Jets defense is safety Eric Smith and the DB has a fan in Eric Mangini. Another player Jets fans thought might wind up in the green and white - Rosevelt Colvin - has a new home and it ain't with us. Colvin could have helped the pass rush and may have been an intrguing player to move inside at linebacker or take snaps away from Bryan Thomas if he struggled but it was not to be.

Anquan Boldin is thinking about not attenting training camp in July. My thoughts on why he may be thinking that and why I think he should be in camp on time.
Video: Anquan Boldin Hit and Knocked Out by Jets' Eric Smith
There's a reason why helmet-to-helmet hits get flagged for penalties. The injury to Anquan Boldin is exactly why. Here's the video of the hit Boldin sustained late in the Jets blowout win over the Cardinals as Eric Smith flew in and unloaded on Anquan in the endzone.

Anquan Boldin takes a vicious illegal hit from Eric Smith
The Arizona Cardinals Anquan Boldin took a nasty helmet to helmet hit from the Jets Eric Smith late in yesterdays blowout win. How there was no flag on the play is beside me, but when you launch yourself and lead with your helmet like Smith did you endanger the life of another human being. Here is hoping that Boldin will be alright and resume his high caliber of play. And to Eric...
Artrell Hawkins retires
New York Jets defensive back, Artrell Hawkins retired from the NFL last week. Hawkins played in the league for eight seasons and was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (43rd overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft. He became the second highest player to be drafted out of the University of Cincinnati. As a senior, he helped guide the program to its first bowl appearance...
Eric Smith’s Creative, Disturbing Prank
New York Jets safety Eric Smith one-upped folksy prankster Brett Favre on Thursday, leaving a human spine in kicker Mike Nugent's locker.
Smith, who was suspended one game and fined $50,000 after breaking Anquan Boldin's snot bone on in Week 4, said it was more of a statement than a joke.
"Mike lost his spine down in [...]
Gholston A Go
The New York Jets are all ready to go. The draft picks are signed and this is the squad we're going to whittle down into the surprise team of 2008. Unless the Jets bring in Brett Favre! Hey I want the guy here but apparently Paul Needell doesn't and he doesn't offer a compelling arguement against Favre, just more of the same "media circus" mumbo jumbo.
The real...
