Bryan Smith/DeMarcus Ware

A lot of ppl considered the Eagles 3rd round pick as a bit of a "reach". But after watching a little tape on this guy, he reminds me a lot of DeMarcus Ware (speed rushing DE who I project will be a ROLB). They both come from small schools (yes, Troy is a small school) and both dominated the competition. Smith is a little lighter and shorter, but he shows explosive burst turning the edge and has fluid hips/COD (change of direction)/pursuit skills that the great LB's of the NFL posses. NICE!!!!!! good for u~for researching him!!!

i hope you're right. but a couple of things:

Demarcus Ware was 250lbs and a COMBINE MONSTER coming out of college.

Smith is 231lbs and not so much a COMBINE MONSTER coming out of college.

we're really talking apples and oranges here.

Mike Mamula was a COMBINE MONSTER too

hahaha TRUE

Any rookie comparison to an established NFL veteran is going to be "apples to oranges" at this point. Aka McFadden/Peterson, Gholston/Merriman, Hardy/Carmichael, Long/Kerney, Sweed/Roy Williams etc etc. Obviously every player is different and might be a boom or bust (no matter how well they did at the combine). If everyone really knew how each college player would do in the NFL the draft would look completely different (Hmm..should we take Tome Brady #1 or judge him by the combine and wait 10,000 years to draft him?). Everything at this point is an educated guess. And the player Smith closely resembles (on tape) is Ware to me (and you all don't have to agree either). :)

Frankly I don't know why we didn't take a safety here instead of waiting another round to select a burglar with a broken leg. Looks like Smith has a lot more potential to excel at his position than the rest of the "whatever" picks, though.

safety/CB whichever...NO BUSTED UP CRIMINALS,DAMMIT!

Ya i wish we got Dajuan Morgan, but i think Jack idegoun... whatever, is a good pick, he has lots of talent.

You guys arent a fan of Quentin Demps? I love the kids attitude and bet hell be on the field before the halfway point of the season as a STARTER. Finally a safety who CAN COVER...Go to the Eagles website and listen to his conference call if you havent already. Hes got an awesome attititude

Boog whats your thoughts on Demps?

I'm probably not giving the Eagles enough credit for this pick.He has the perfect attitude to be a good safety. We'll see how well he matches up with NFL wideouts but I have to agree, if any of the late round picks pan out it'll be Demps.

I dunno about that Jack Ikewnagowakaeed pick either, even if he can play in 09 hell never find a jersey big enough for his last name, and Jail ID #.....

looks like smith has good closing speed, I dunno if its fair to compare him to Demarcus Ware who already has proven he can dominate in the NFL when this guy hasnt played a snap in the NFL. But good video and lets not forget about the last small school DE we drafted that weighed 230lbs.....Trent Cole

Demps is going to make the Eagles very happy. He's quick and a big hitter.

not so much a big hitter but great coverage and a bad attitude that every one loves

Yeah.....lot like Jenkins.

izell jenkins? oy vey.

hey 5 you get a chance to see him play at all? I didnt know a great deal about him, but since the draft after the research Ive done, I cant belive he wasnt gone earlier? With the kick return ability and draft leading 17 receptions, Id think he woulda gone higher. But he has all the confidence in the world. I heard his main knock is not being "physical" all the time??

Saw him play on TV, but I can't remember who UTEP was playing when I saw him. I think it was Central Florida, who was ranked very high before they imploded last year. He's played against weaker competition than most , but I think he had like a 100 yard INT return in that game. Pretty impressive. I have seen a lot of press on him in the Dallas paper. Looks like the real deal. I think he is more physical than people are saying he is.

cool thanks for the info 5...

little early to say he reminds anybody of dware...but if he becomes an outside linebacker in your defense he won't have the same impact dware does b/c dware is in a 3-4 where he is rushing the qb most of the time...and yes jared360 cole is a beast...not quite a dware but close LOL

schools so small they have McNeese on the back of each jersey HAHAHAH i hope he comes in and plays with a chip on his shoulder....and a Smith on his back HAHAH
