TEAMS: Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It's been a VERY busy week at Halas Hall for the Chicago Bears so let's catch up.
To put insult onto injury of Cedric Benson's arrest, his court date is set for May 19th, which is the same day the Bears open up OTA's (Organized Team Activities). This means rookie running back Matt Forte will have the opportunity to run through drills as the starting running back. Not a good situation for Benson who threatens to lose significant playing time.
Matt Forte can run, pick up blocks, and contribute as a receiver, a complete package that represents the polar opposite of Benson. Even if Benson remains the starting running back, Forte will likely come in on third downs. It won't be long until Benson finds himself riding the bench.
The Bears released safety Adam Archuleta after a lackluster season. It appears he is still broken from his time in Washington and has lost the confidence to play the safety position. He left the secondary open to big plays and the Bears are better off moving on without him.
It was a great draft for the Bears except for the noticeable lack of a quarterback. The Bears have responded by signing undrafted rookies Caleb Hanie of Colorado State and Nick Hill of Southern Illinois. After letting Brian Griese go, one of the two players will become the third string quarterback. Mel Kiper has praised Hanie for having a strong arm and skills but has a tendency to force his throws. Hill is a local favorite and has received praise from Bears staff for his ability to master the playbook quickly. The Bears are also leaving themselves open to pick up a quarterback that could be released by another team.

Chicago, What’s Your Forte?
By now you've all heard of the Cedric Benson situation, and by now you've all given your various opinions on the Bears running back and Chicago's decision to release him.

Monday Night Football Reaction
The first game went as planned with the Packers win, so that was 2 units under my belt. Despite leaving 10 points off the board (a 70+ yard TD by Donald Driver that was called back due to a dumb penalty and a blocked FG), they still came out with the win. What a regular season debut from Aaron Rodgers. The guy has a canon for an arm. The Packer's front office made the right...
Chicago Bears Make A Much Needed Move and Sign RB Kevin Jones
The Chicago Bears bolstered their roster by signing RB Kevin Jones to a one year deal worth about $605,000.
I like the signing, it brings in a nice backup to compete with rookie Matt Forte.
"I'm ecstatic," Jones said on his way to O'Hare from Halas Hall. "I know the situation. I know the Bears' rich history of winning. Looking at the Bears, I know they're a...

The Bears Decide To Wake Up And Make The Playoff Just A Bit More Interesting
The Bears played three and a half quarters of just flat out terrible Football, but somehow managed to pull out a win. After a Matt Forte TD to tie the game, Will Blackmon returned the following kickoff to the 50, but an Adrian Peterson late hit gave the Packers the ball at the Bears' 45 yard line. After a first down and a few runs, the Packers had a chance for the win with...
