Found August 29, 2008 on Chiefs Gab:
In a game delayed 90 minutes by lightning, hail and high wind. The Chiefs defeated the St. Louis Rams 21-17. Once mother nature permitted the Chiefs proceeded to even their preseason record to 2-2. The starting offense minus Tony G and LJ did exactly what the needed to come out and do. They went down the field and scored touchdowns on their first two drives. Albeit against a unit consisting of mostly backups as the Rams did not play a lot of their veterans. The one cause of concern with the offense would be of the Chiefs total of 53 yards passing, the leading receiver was full back Mike Cox with two receptions for 31yards. The offensive line was the story of the game both the starters and the second unit paved the way for three different running backs to average over six yard a carry and did not give up a sack. The last audition for the preseason did not come to a conclusion with out it's drama. Looking to have the kick return job locked up rookie Dontrell Savage fumbled the opening kick of the game and let a punt bounce inside the 20 that he should have fielded. B.J. Sams came on in relief of Savage and had a couple of nice returns. Savage later worked his way back in the lineup and had some nice runs and punt returns. The Chiefs will have a hard decision on their hands when it comes to picking their kick returner. The other tough issue will be receiver Bobby Sippio came into the game knowing he had to impress to survive. He did that hauling in a 11 yard fade route for a touchdown from Damon Huard. Sippio will be a hard player to cut all he does is catch everything you throw at him. Kolby Smith was the star of the first half with 38 yards rushing on six carries and 2 touchdowns cementing his position as the number two running back. Jackie Battle was the workhorse of the second half with 9 carries for 55 yards. Battle will be one of the Chiefs 22 cuts by Sunday. Then they will hope he clears waivers so they can get him signed to the practice squad, after his performance Thursday night the chances of that happening are slim. The second string secondary had to be the most disappointing unit of the day. With four players battling for two positions, they allowed the Rams to get back in the game after being handed a double digit lead. And they let Brock Berlin and Bruce Gradkowski look like Peyton Manning. Dimitri Patterson was the only cornerback to really standout and play like a man looking for a job. One Bright spot for the backup secondary was DeJuan Morgan who came up the lone interception of the game on a Bruce Gradkowski tipped pass. Strangest play of the game: with the Rams in their two minute offense DeJuan Morgan breaks up a pass on the sideline. Colliding with the receiver and a Chiefs doctor. Getting his leg rolled up in the play the doctor broke his leg with a compound fracture that was reported to be piercing through the skin. That is irony, the doctor assigned to treat the injured players gets injured by one of his own players worse than most actual football injuries.

Branden Albert In Uniform?

Couldn't sleep. I guess it was the combination of my big fantasy draft tomorrow (my second of a personal record six leagues--yikes!), and the Chiefs' last tune-up before these babies actually count. Anyway, I saw this while doing some late-night perusing. It looks like Branden Albert might not only suit

A.A.D.Q.: Return Our DVD Purchase?

The big debate right now surrounds Devard Darling and whether or not he should be on the Chiefs' roster, let alone starting. I say give it some more time. It's ironic to me that the same people who go ballistic over Brodie Coryle being judged "unfairly" after six games won't ...

Rams @ Chiefs Post-Game Report: Charles In Charge

This No. 25 doesn't whiff--he makes tacklers do that! What a night, huh? My post-game report was a bit delayed by a big fantasy draft and this itsy, bitsy speech you might have heard about. But that's not all bad news. Why? Because I just got my NFL Direct Ticket and ...

Rams @ Chiefs: Open Thread
