    COWBOYS
    HAWAII

Aikman would be UCLA too. Awful Quiz.

Aikman left Oklahoma because he realized his passing skills would be under utilized by Barry Switzer. He graduated from UCLA.

Actually, I think he got hurt at Oklahoma and then couldn't get back into the starting lineup. He started out pretty good at OU and had Keith Jackson there as his tight end, but I think an ankle injury sidelined him and Jamelle Holieway started the rest of the 1985 season and won the national championship over Penn State. That's when Aikman said goodbye and went to UCLA. Was a good move for him.

BowlBound - Aikman did not like Switzer personally, primarily because Troy perceived that Barry was not concerned about the character of the players he recruited. A close second was the fact that Oklahoma was running the option at that time & did not throw the ball a whole lot.

I realize that, but part of the reason was he couldn't get back into the starting lineup after the other QB won a national title. They were actually throwing the ball quite well with Aikman in there, but I was at the game he got hurt in against Miami in 1985. He started that game pretty solid and then broke the ankle and the rest is history.

Where is the none of the above option for Erik Williams?
