Donovan can't win

After reading a post by pipoto77 about GCobb, for some reason I decided to go to the website and read some of the articles posted by GCobb. I must say that after reading them, I do feel somewhat dumber because what he writes is nonsense.

Although, after reading some comments it did get me thinking and to me it seems like Donovan is in a no win situation. I don't mean within the organization, but with the media and the fans. For years McNabb was criticized for being a "company" man and not speaking out about certain issues. To some that was a knock on Donovan. Now he is speaking out about wanting more playmakers and being questioned by the media about his satisfaction with the off-season moves. No matter what he says, every answer is being dissected and looked at under a microscope.

No matter what he says or what he does the man is being chastised. It's to a point, if I were Donovan I would even want to talk to the media.

g cobb is an idiot and i am a raiders fan that lives in cali. pay no mind to what he says or prints out. my sis is a huge eagles fan (ck) and she laughs at this guy all the time good blog man

ha i had to chime in here, steelers fan btw, this guy sucks plain and simple and no matter what donovan says it get twisted up and spit out by the media. i have no answer as to why, what i do know is this guy is a 1st class d-bag. solid write up man

Thanks man. It's not so much what GCobb says or doesn't say that bothers me. We all know he's a complete ass. What bothers me is how every word that Donovan says is an issue. I don't remember where I read it, but they were talking about his press conference from what he said on this subject and on that subject all the way to him letting out his trademark smile and telling a joke here is there. What next the media is going to rip him apart for smiling. Oh wait, they already have. It seems like no matter what he does, he is going to be under the microscope.

ha we posted at the same time, check my reply above

DF!!!!!!!!!!!
you all have already said, everything there is to say:
Cobb & The Media constantly pick apart every little thing, no matter what the man does, perfecto!!!

Donovan deserves better then what the stupid media gives him. Give the guy a break and leave him alone. For the first time since 2004, he is FULLY HEALTHY and ready to go. Great post.

they did the same thing to Randall, and Jaws, and even Sonny before that. This isn't anything new, but seriously, if you're going to stand up in the middle of the Philly media and talk FEELINGS? I mean, we talking feelings???...Give him a tissue, send him to his room and when he's ready to kick somebody's ass, let him out, he's a man for pete's sake...

5 cant win? this is absolute shit, the man took us to nfc title games, with nothing. i cant even react to this, im gunna be sick
T

GCobb is a moron. Besides the fact that he spews nothing but BS with no reliable sources, he cannot seem to figure out proper punctuation, spelling, etc. It's embarassing.

Yes this is surely ridiculous whats happening with Mcnabb...The guys is picked apart like a freaken crime scene on CSI these days. Its reallnothing new, because its been happening since day one, but its getting to be on a whole different level. Hes finally happy and healthy, let the best QB weve seen in out lifetimes BREATH a little and do his thing....Good post DFMCNABB

and as always, please forgive the spelling

Yeah Gcobb is a retard! He posts some bogus stuff and only tells half of the story. When he said that McNabb said he was not a Philadelphian, he was from Chicago, yeah he said that but Cobb left out the fact that right after that he said he does feel he has been adopted and is now a Philadelphian! Cobb is a douche!

DMac has always had this problem. It's because there are too many retards in Philly that listen to WIP all f'in day being pumped with the same rediculous crap. Theres no objectivity, just screaming opinions. They (WIP) run off every superstar the city has. AI, Lindros, Barkley, Lindross, Cunningham to name a few. PA is under educated compared to the national avg, older than the nationa avg, and least likely to embrace changes than the national avg. Apparently, reading a newpaper besides the Daily Snooze would be way out of the question. I left 6.5 years ago and I cant believe Angelo still has a job. The city is filled with morons. D5, I got your back. Dont take it out on them... They're just uneducated.

wow, a lotta gcobb bashing. If you bird fans remember he was the first one to break the story about Jevon Kearse partying like a rockstar and not being in football shape last year. He called that one in May or June wayyy before the season and boy was he ever right. The guy gets insider info, you just have to catch him on the radio to hear his best stuff, his website can be a lil off ,

I totally agree with you. I love the way McNabb handled hisself when Rush Limbaugh criticized him for being a black QB, yet the media continued to criticize him even though he handled the whole situation with class. See this link titled "Rush was right" : http://www.slate.com/id/2089193/
Then when he made his comments on HBO there was a huge media frenzy over it. McNabb, however, always handles the media in the same way. He just gives his statement and that is it. The media likes to hype it up and put a negative spin on everything he says in order to create a story. It isn't right sometimes, someone in the media should say hey this isn't right, we need to draw the line.

Our only hope for the next several years is that Donovan turns a deaf ear to the media and the minority of fans that obviously have less than a high school education who all criticize him at every turn. He does as asked and demanded by all and can still do no right. He is our QB, he is our leader. I repeat for emphasis. He is our QB, he is our leader.

and the last time mcnabb actually ignored criticism was when?

I'm a huge McNabb backer, and I think everything he said at his press conference was justified, and honest, based on the questions that were asked. I've always found him open, honest, and consistent, which are all traits that you want in a leader.
The fact that McNabb goes out and performs at the level that he has for many years each and every Sunday despite all the press garbage he's been subjected to during that time span should be proof to all of you that he's not the "over sensitive" guy many detractors paint him out to be. The fact that players like Westbrook, Dawkins, and Runyan - players who have never really been challenged with the "not a leader" or "not the right player for the position" talk by fans - have repeatedly had #5's back when the press has tried to use them to throw McNabb under the bus shows that Donovan is a leader on the team.
GCobb has recognized Donovan's character in the past, and said "give Donovan a break". Then, the next McNabb press conference, he picks apart and over analyzes McNabb's comments like the others he's chastizing. In my eyes, GCobb's waffling back and forth, not contributing a real opinion other than to parrot what is printed elsewhere (or what he heard on the radio), and not checking his sources before posting "breaking news", GCobb is the epitome of shoddy journalism. Even a blind squirrel will occasionally get a nut, so I still "read" his articles, albeit with a shaker of salt (a grain just isn't enough). I put the word "read" in quotes because there's a great deal of interpretation necessary due to the amazing level of grammatical errors.

I don't think the fans are as big of an issue as the media. The fans are mostly victims of the bad press the media likes to surround McNabb with. You are right, he is honest, and extremely smart. He poses his answers the way he should and that is why the media hates him so much. He doesn't give them any "salacious" type crap that they love to air. Ie. Pacman, TO to name a few of the african american players they like to put D-Mac in the same catagory, however they can't and it kills them.

if anything, andy reid and jeff lure needs to be criticized for a lack of good receivers and crappy play calling. all philly teams are known 4 not getting quality players. they will usually rely on one or maybe two guys. no wonder we can't win a championship.
