Chiefs Gab:
As the Chiefs showed up in River Falls yesterday they were short one massive passenger. Glen Dorsey's hold out becomes official at 9:00 a.m. The important thing is that this does not become a distraction. Luckily for the Chiefs DT is a position where you can just step in and play. There is no defensive plays to learn for Glenn. His main job 99% of the time is going to be to smash the opposing center back into the quarterback.
In the past I have been hard on Carl Peterson for the holdouts. I will Give Carl this he is using his leverage wisely he knows Dorsey can hold out for a while maybe up to the first preseason game and it wont really matter as long as he has been staying in shape. It will never make it that far though. Dorsey wants to be playing too much.. If it went that long Dorsey would probably attempt to show up without a contract and play.
But Carl has met his match in negotiating buffoonery and that is why this is still not worked out. Joel Segal who is representing Dorsey wants to wait for other draft picks to sign before he starts negotiating seriously. The pick ahead of him Darren McFadden has already signed . The bar has already been set. If they wait for the sixth pick to sign and the sixth pick is waiting for them to sign than this could go on for a while.
Peterson even called Dorsey out on his promise he made to be in camp on time but agents don't get paid to fulfill promises or have players report to camp on time. They get paid off how much money their client gets. If Dorsey wants a deal to get done he may need re inform Mr. Segal that he is employed to get deals done. Not get contract talks temporarily suspended so he can wait for the best offer that will net him the most commission.
