Drew Bledsoe > Tony Romo

Removing Drew Bledsoe in a game that he was playing well in was a big mistake. Putting in Tony Romo was an even bigger one.

I loved the standing ovation they gave Romo at the start of the 2nd half. Then that tipped pass and interception. Hah.

Saying Bledsoe was playing well is a bit of a stretch. Dallas was completely outplayed last night and have not lived up to their potential. The offensive line has a lot to do with this, but so does the erratic play of Bledsoe. Yes, his TDs=his interceptions, but lets take another look. In the games that Dallas has won, Bledsoe has been great 6 TDs and 1 INT. In the other games, he was just the opposite: 1TD and 6INTs. You cant even try to compete with a guy that is going to completely destroy your chances of winning in half the games.

Part of the problem is the o-line. But since Bledsoe is so immobile he cant try and compensate for their ineptitude. He holds onto the ball for too long and then gets sacked. With Romo you at least have a shot of him breaking free. Romo is not the long term solution, but Bledsoe is washed up at this point of his career. Dallas was a pre-season Super Bowl contender and now they are .500. Bledsoe's play in those losses has a lot to do with that record.

I honestly think that the Dallas Cowboys are in a lot of trouble this year. Neither Bledsoe nor Romo is the clear better choice- in fact, both of them are really below average quarterbacks. It's unfortunate for the Cowboys, who many people were predicting to make it to the Super Bowl this year, that they may not even have a winning record at the end of the season. Yeah...they have T.O. and a good running-back duo (Barber and Jones), but if they can't it done at the QB position, they are in some serious trouble.

I said it when it happened and I will say it now. Why the hell did the Cowboys give Bledsoe such a big, long-term deal? Sure he was good, and some can argue he still is at times, but he is old. Even if he was still slinging passes downfield, I would weary of signing a guy who has been in the league for so long. The Cowboys are ina unique position to make a legitimate run for the Superbowl; all they are missing is a quarterback. My advice is to draft one and build him up.
