Brees tied a Super Bowl record with 32 completions. He finished 32 of 39 for 288 yards and two touchdowns -- both in the second half as New Orleans rallied from a 10-6 halftime deficit. After an onside kick to start the third quarter, Brees marched the Saints down the field and hit Pierre Thomas for a 16-yard touchdown to give New Orleans its first lead at 13-10. Then with 5:42 left in the fourth quarter, after the Colts had retaken the edge, Brees found Jeremy Shockey on a two-yard score, putting the Saints ahead for good.Brees becomes the 23rd quarterback to win the Super Bowl MVP and is the first player from Purdue University to take home the honor since Len Dawson won it all the way back in Super Bowl IV.
