In honor of the Bay Area's fallen hero, the latest literary talent to emerge from the bastion of learning that is the University of California, Berkeley, here is ee cummings' poem "Buffalo Bill's / defunct"...in the style of Marshawn Lynch:

I'm a Cal alum, and I'm a huge fan of Marshawn's (same goes for the guest writer who wrote this on my blog). I've talked to him before on several occasions, and I know he's not a dumb guy. It's his damn blog and he can write however the hell he wants to write. This is just all in good fun :)
    • I wrote the poem, and I'm not mocking Marshawn out of spite or because his writing style annoys me. I think jzpopp could use a few xanax or a sense of humor. As dinabanina said, I'm from Cal myself and I'm a Marshawn fan. I think Marshawn writes the way he does partially because it IS funny, and I doubt Marshawn would have a problem with what I wrote.

I have a sense of humor BM. I have a great one. I joke around way too often. I just don't see what Marshawn wrote as humorous. I don't think he was trying to be humorous either. Just to get something clear. I am not hating on Marshawn. If Tony Romo or Tom Brady had written it I still would have written my article.

TC, when someone goes to a school like Berkley for 3 years. They should act like it. That is the main focus of what I presented. He is an adult, he is now going to be a role model, he should start talking like he has an education. And someone not notcing my grammatical errors is not a good thing. I had myf riend proof read what I wrote on my page solely because I start to type and I do not stop until I am done and have typed two words together or forgotten a letter. If anything, you should want someone to point out where you mess up.

I cannot edit the above post but I did notice my errors

      a) i didn't even write this and b) if i had, I wouldn't know that I was "stealing" it from them, because I am now making a point of not going to that site anymore
      • You should really visit it. You're all over it.
    • I wrote this, not dinabanina. I hadn't seen the flatusyahu entry until after you wrote this comment, and after reading flatusyahu's entry, his and mine have very little in common. He definitely didn't have the idea of conflating ee cummings' poem and Marshawn's entries. I think you misidentify the source of my idea. Here is the original article that inspired both flatusyahu's entry and my significantly more funny and creative entry: http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=310935 . The comparison of cummings to Lynch comes from sportingnews, not from flatusyahu. Even if I had "stolen" this idea from somewhere, it would be on me, not on dinabanina.
  • i never pegged you for a copy-cat...but i guess i was wrong

why don't you try reading a little more. it was a guest writer and who cares if someone did something similar. the whole freaking internet is based on how good you emulate what works. i've read both and this one is better and nowhere near as pretentious as those spammers.

judging by the way a lot of you have jumped out of the woodwork to defend Marshawn's post, I guess it is asking too much when you want grown men and women to evolve out of the freaking text message/IM chat speak... my 18 y/o brother talks and sends text messages like this and it drives me insane.
