Eagles' attitudes may be changing

**this article basically slams donovan, once again the media takes what he says & runs with it** having a bad day, morning whatever-vent it here, cuz all i could do was laugh when i read this, re hash. nothing like taking positive vibes & turning them all into negatives......some never learn-enjoy smashin it!!!

In past offseasons, attendance at coach Andy Reid's voluntary Eagles minicamps was at or close to 100 percent. Veterans had always felt their presence was required in order to set the tone for a more efficient training camp, paving the way for deep playoff runs year after year. Don't be surprised if that red-hot climate cools a bit this year, the second straight in which the Eagles traded away their first-round pick in the NFL Draft despite missing the playoffs in two of the last three seasons. Most of the non-rookies were extra careful with their comments during last weekend's mandatory minicamp, as if they were wary of blurting out something the front office might not want to hear. Such as their real feelings. Quarterback Donovan McNabb, better than even money to be entering his final season in Philadelphia, was asked point-blank if the team's offseason changes were to his liking. Let's just say he misquoted himself in the response. "It wasn't to my likeness," he said. "It was for the team. It's hard to put pressure on these young guys coming in because you wouldn't throw them into the fire like that. I think it's good that we have our guys back healthy and we can all get out there and those young guys can contribute where they are. And for veterans, I think it's an important season for us." Other than the first sentence, which McNabb later revised to "it wasn't about my liking," the response had nothing to do with the question.

CLICK & SMASH !!!! picture is of donovan smiling like he always does & kicken this reporter right in the a$$ lol!!!

man that picture is great ha
that's way better then the article lol these reporters make me laugh. remember that whole pam oliver incident. whatever lol. they did take everything he said and twist it till it fit drama the way they always do thats what makes it so funny

i know, thats why i blogged it, funny how they do this !!! i like how they say this is his final season here......yeah MKAY lol!!!!!!!

always sarcastic #5 ay but whatever he wants I'm for

LOL winna!!!

It's obvious the guy writing this article is a complete moron. He probably needed an article to save his job and he figured why not, I'll report on what the other million people are talking about, "Was Donovan happy with the off season moves?" I've said it once and I'll say it again. Go to the Eagles website and click on the press conference for Brian Westbrook and you can see that he didn't seem to excited about the moves. I'm don't blame him if he's not, nor do I blame Donovan. Although, I could be wrong, maybe they are happy.

With Donovan and Westbrook calling for playmakers this off season, I don't think it was a sign of disrespect for the guys on the team, I think it was a request to bring guys in who will make their job a lot easier on Sundays and there is nothing wrong with that.

To say that the rookies will have no impact and will barely have a shot of making the team is a load of crap. I don't know a hell of a lot about the rookies that the Eagles drafted, but I do think that DeSean will have an impact this year. If it's not as a WR, it's in the return game.

For this guy to say that the Eagles are forgetting about the 2008 and ready to move on to the 2009 without Donovan is a complete crock. Donovan will be back in Eagles green next year after he has an MVP season and is back in the pro bowl.

Andy Reid thinks that the team he put together is capable of winning the SB. Are they? I don't know. The media thinks that they don't have a shot and are quick to write them off, as well as send Donovan packing. Didn't they do the same thing with the Giants and Eli Manning last year? I think the Giants and Eli told the media where they can go, now it's the Eagles and Donovan's turn.

Go Eagles!!!!

LOL !!!!!!!!!! i was waiting to see what u had to say, PERFECT!!!!!!!! if i could, i'd thumb you up 10000000 times!!!
i couldn't agree with you more!!!!!!!

I was going to try and restrain myself from commenting, but I just couldn't help myself…..LOL.

FIVE ~ is the man! lol at the questions over and over. Same things asked over like a four year old!

AMEN!!!!!!

One of best qb in the league and all around rb--eagles refuse to upgrade their offense, they could got a cover corner, with their first round draft pick. Donovan Mcnabb, should speak out,he is pulling the trigger,if your gun is half full--thats limiting, his big arm down the field. Any place else,he will have weapons besides westbrook--EAGLES--YOU PLAY THE GAME TO WIN--OF COURSE HERMAN EDWARDS IS MY FATHER UNCLE---

If the FO only showed as much passion as the fans

i love the bit about how the Eagles traded out of the first round of the playoffs in spite of missing the playoffs in 2 of the last 3 seasons. and what, exactly, does that have to do with making the playoffs? can anyone give me an instance from recent memory where a rookie can claim credit for taking his team to the playoffs? what a poison-pen a**hole

I'm not even sure what his point was? Can anyone actually accurately rate the draft at this point in the off season? For all we know right now, Jack Ikegwuono could end up being the best player the Eagles selected. Who knows? None of the rookies have even signed a contract or attended the rookie preparation class with the NFL yet. They've only been on the field three days. We don't know their work ethic, devotion to the game, or ability to grasp the schemes at this point. How would Donovan, Andy, Mel Kiper, or Nick Fierro even have a clue yet? It's all just speculation. Just like saying that McNabb won't be back in 2009-2010, it's just a guess.....

That goes for me too. I'm guessing DeSean Jackson ends up being more like Peter Warrick....but I don't know yet either.

Nearly all Philadelphia media try to thump five whenever they get the opportunity. The guy could be all smiles and rainbows for here on out and they would still find something wrong with his "attitude".

I say praise this man, he's the best QB that we have ever known.

But like all other philly Icons those who dont praise him will do so when he's gone. Just as they did with Reggie white and Michael Jack Schmidt.

The paper is in NJ.... who cares!! They just trying to get people to read their junk.

PLEASE STOP TRYING TO START SOMETING THAT IT IS NOT. EVERY BODY KNOW THE FRONT OFFICE SHOULD HAVE GOT A BIG PLAY MAKER. D MAC AND WESTBROOK CAN'T DO IT BY THERE SELF. EAGLES FRONT OFFICE PLEASE GIVE THE FANS A SUPER BOWEL STOP SELL US A PIPE DREAM.

You know what surprises Me is that The Media Forgets that DMAC Majored in Communications so without a doubt like they have in the past they will try to screw up his words or Reword what he meant.... But i dont think they can ever trick mcnabb into saying what they want to hear cuz the man majored in Speech an communications.... So that must be a big headache for them LOL

yeah d mac isnt going anywhere unless he gets hurt if the eagles were not happy for the lito offers just imagine what they would want for mcnabb more than anyone would pay i believe healthy hes our best shot at winning no one else has done so much with so little i just hope they make at least one more move for an offensive weapon for this guy so he can have a real shot

UNREAL...the media WONT LET Donovan be a class act....When has he EVER been anything but? Eagles fans rally round our leader, lets not forget what Mcnabb has done for this city and organization...I get as frusterated as anyone with no Super Bowls, but lets wait and give him some time....hopefully his field position will be MUCH better than last year, and with healthy LJ and Reggie picking up his game...I think well be okay...and one more thing...the offseason is NOT OVER, who knows what MAY happen....Thank God Donovan is a smart class act, and will ignore this made up negativety and continue to be the class act hes always been....CK AGAIN....GREAT POST...Keep em comin...THANKS!!

We all know that the media doesn't like when things are going well, they need turmoil and kaos to keep them happy. ( I hope I spelled everything ok? ha ha)

Nice picture. Looks like he might have just kicked Andy Reid in his big butt and was laughing about it.

Nice post!

Jason2: How can you even post about ANY Philly article after saying this "Philly fans have always been the biggest wimps in sports and that's why everybody hates you.BOW YOUR HEADS PHILASELFDESTRUCTIRIANS and jump on the Beantown Express. Who cares if you jumped ship? Philly sucks and you know it. It's a sportsfans nightmare."

Seems to me that the only reason why you posted here is to try to gain a "thumbs up". Pretty weak if you ask me.

the defense is STACKED this year. i can't wait to absolutly OWN all of the teams we play. all i gotta say is defense wins championships, ask the 2000 Ravens. With the best cornerback tandem in the NFL, and increadibly fast and skilled D line, young, fast, and smart Line Backers, and of course B DAWK, the likes of Dallas or any other team for that matter stand little to no chance of scoring more than 10 points a game on us. look out for the #1 or #2 defense in 2008. and always be weary of a 100% McNabb, 100% LJ Smith (thus renewing the team as a redzone threat), the always beastly Brian Westbrook, speedy and now expirienced Curtis, a healthy Offensive line (ala John Runyan), and new offensive features such as Doomsday Jackson and Booker. I personally see us alternating a "rocket" or "pony" style setting on O featuring 2 RBs (Westbrook and Booker/Buckhalter/Tony Hunt(?)), a TE (LJ Smith), 1 slot WR (Jackson/Avant), and one split wide WR (Kurtis, Brown (?), Jackson). i think we could easily run this to open up the feild to give multiple options to McNabb, who can now even fall back to his old weapon of scrambling. this offensive set would serve the eagles perfectly for 1st and 2nd down plays. just an observation. anyway, the entire team is stacked, and as Big Red said, we are set to win a championship. E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!

just wait till the season theyll see

Remember the three headed monster RB play Andy put on the field a few times, a few years back? Every time they ran it they gained yardage, only to be stashed in Andy's "Trick Plays That Work" file and hidden away with The Lost Ark never to be seen again.

This is one of those things we'll never understand.
Some of these fools would have had Andy draft Ricky Williams, totally ignoring the huge void behind center at the time.

McNabb is a rock. The fact that he hasn't popped off completely shows he's a pro with his eyes on the prize. If that cry baby over in dallass was as such, we'd have a nice little dynasty goin.
No other QB in the league has had as much WR turnover on his team as "5".
Or questionable O-line stability.

Yet he puts up the numbers. And keeps the "pick" totals low.

Kevin Kolb is years away, if he plays ever at all. These hacks have to get over themselves.

A slow news day is just that.

agreed, expect to see Kolb as a backup for up to 6 or so seasons. Big Red won't let 5 leave, and i have no objection.

YEAH,IF THEY DO LET HIM LEAVE,THEY WILL BE SORRY---NO ONE READS DEFENSE'S LIKE D-MAC--THATS MY MAN--EVEN IF YOUR GOT LESS PLAYMAKERS AND RUNNING FOR LIFE!!!

The two comments above me are absurd.6 more years of McNabb?!?! Dude, no one will bring you a brownie for being Philadelphia's Biggest Superfive Fan.Nothing about your statement makes good sense for a football team in any capacity. Also the notion of Andy Reid coaching here for 6 more years is equally disconcerting. Both guys are in a tenuous position coming into this season and your unwavering nonsensical support of them will do NOTHING to help the team win.It makes you sound like a moron. "NO ONE READS DEFENSES LIKE D-MAC"- McNabb does NOT have good field vision. It is one of his biggest problems. His lack of it contributes to the unbelievable number of checkdown throws and dump offs to Westbrook.Frankly, it is a testament to the endurance of Westbrook that he holds up so well having to catch so many "passes" at the line of scrimage.

Again boogerking=more ignorant version of howard eskin, and obviously much less intelligent to...damn go to another site dude...NOONE wants ur negativity, and if your an "Eagles fan" how bout you keep your negativety to your self...speaking of "morons", you certainly dont look like one bashing your team with your opinions...and the best part is you think your so smart...LOL

Maybe he's just being realistic. Ever think about that?

I don't agree with boogerking. Although I have no idea how much longer Donavan will be with the Eagles, I strongly believe he is currently one of the 4 best quarterbacks in the NFL. Bookerking, please don't listen to the hype from reporters. Go back and look at the game film. Don't just look at the Eagles, go back and look at some quaterback that you think has better `field vision', and I think you will be sadly surprised.
As for the Eagles front office, I think they tried to get 2 very good players in the toughest position to play in the NFL. From what I've seen of Kolb, he has the ability to become one of the best back-ups in the NFL this year. I think Kolb will beat out AJ, but it won't be easy. I also think that down the road, he can be a starter in the NFL.
As for reporters, I've lived in three different areas of the country (deep south, central and east), and the ones in the North East appear to be the most critical in a negative way. Quite often they don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

While local media sometimes helps to shape my opinions I am willing and able to declare B.S. on their stories when appropriate. Look, it's o.k. to be critical of McNabb. It doesn't equate to throwing in the towel on the whole team.I happen to think our defense will be among the league best. Efforts have been made to improve the running game and create more scoring oppurtunities in the red zone. I just don't like McNabb. There, I said it. I DON'T LIKE DONOVAN MCNABB! .......still waiting for the Eagles FBI to kick in my door. I don't like the way he forces WRs to make circus catches, I don't like all the dump offs to receivers just beyond the line of scrimmage, I don't like his injuries, I don't like his statements in the paper, I don't like the "call for playmakers", and I don't like all the excuses necessary to elevate him to elite QB status.

Booger its more than obvious that you don't like Mcnabb, but please give me the name of a better QB from philly in the last 10 years? I mean I dont think he made the call for "playmakers" to elevate his QB status, I think Donovan is getting old now, and he wants a legitamate shot at a super bowl, which isnt gonna happen with the same roster we had last year. I like our draft, frusterating at the time, but we now have playmakers in Asante Samuel, Chris Clemons, Lorenzo Booker, hopefully Abiamiri, Desaun (hoprfully) and you can never forget BASKETT!!!

**meant past 15 years**

Booger --- give me abetter qb---who took his team to 4 straight nfc ships and a superbowl---name one---before he got there--eagles were DOA----SO THE SH!!!!!T YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS TRASH DOG PERIOD!!!!!!!

Boogerking, take your personal feelings out of it for a little while and look at the tapes of games of other quarterbacks. I am not talking about a 30 second highlight replay of a game (ESPN style). Look at some games. The QBs that you immediately would think are the BEST make the same types of decisions that Donavan does. If you lived in other areas you would also find out that many other QBs (including Brady) have made similar pleas to the FO for help. The Eagles are real close. Wtih the talent they will be able to put on the field this year, they should go deep into the playoffs. This is the year to get behind them. As a matter of fact, I think this is THE year to get behind them.
