The Eagles are always good for a surprise on draft day, and they didn't disappoint this year. First, the Birds traded up from pick number 21 to pick 19, giving up their pick at 21 and a 6th rounder. With pick 19, they then selected wide receiver Jeremy Maclin from Missouri. Maclin is another speedy receiver, like DeSean Jackson, who can spread the field and beat people deep. He was a clutch reciever who caight a number of third down passes and also caught 32 touchdown passes in 28 college...

What's the verdict? Another speedster redundant? Looks like no Boldin now.

any chance of trading him for boldin with another pick or 2?
  • 4forfour
He's a YAC guy, which is great. Also, he can return kickoffs.
  • djwine124...potential to be better? How bout potential to be a bust? Why not take a proven commodity

and because the cards had no intention of trading boldin to the eagles and it would've cost an arm and a leg...i think maclin is a good pick

Eagles got the number 2 rated WR. I like the pick, but it still makes me think there are other plans for this draft as well.

The Eagles selected another receiver like DeSean Jackson...
I personally don't understand this pick, reasons being:
    1) The Eagles don't just need a receiver; they need a big, tough receiver like Boldin, very physical and is willing to take hits. This would free up Djax for more receptions/tds along with other receivers.
    2) The fact that the Eagles used a first round pick on a receiver, a pick that with that desire in mind, could have been traded for a proven wideout in Boldin.
    3) Running Back and Tight End are more glaring needs, and with Donald Brown, Chris Wells, AND Brandon Pettigrew still on the board when they selected, one of those players could have proven more beneficial.
    4) If you're going to insist on picking a WR at this point, disregarding any sort of trade, go with someone like Hakeem Nicks, a receiver that is a very built, tough wideout that you NEED.

Aside from the Eagles' pick, I don't understand Denver's pick for Moreno as well, as they already have 8390843798372890473907895789439 Running Backs. The Eagles had a good chance to trade up when New England was entertaining offers for their 26th spit and didn't, could have taken Wells at least. Just my take on it.

Boldin isn't as big as you are making him appear. He is only 6'1" and his size is becoming more of a myth than a reality. Also, Boldin is a catch and run receiver just like Maclin. I think getting the 2nd best receiver in the draft at the 19th pick is great and a few years down the road will really pay off. However, I don't really understand why they decided to move up 2 picks to get him. They must have got anxious and couldn't believe he was still around.

Why does everyone keep killing the Moreno pick? Yeah Denver may have a lot of running backs, but none of them did jack last year. Moreno's the best running back in the draft and anyone can run in the Denver system. I agree that Maclin is like Djax but I still think it's a good pick. And I hate the Eagles.

    EDIT: Spot, not spit. Haha.

i think the maclin pick is great. djax can focus on being a primary receiver now that maclin will be returning. with demps and maclin back their thats great for special teams. also, our top 3 receivers now have great speed with avant being a very good route runner. dont get me wrong, i still think we need a rb but if we can get mccoy i think its a great value. no way any of us thought that maclin will be there and i give andy some credit for having some balls and taking the best AVAILABLE player and not reaching for somebody. great pick

    BAM!!!!!!!!!!!! MCCOY BABY!
  • People are forgetting that Maclin is bigger than DJax by 2" and 25 lbs., Maclin won't be like DJax, he'll be more like Chad Ochocinco with a PR/KR flare if you ask me.
  • i knew the eagles werent going to get boldin, hes to old, they're trying to develope a young team. there trying to go as young as they can go, they would have to give up too much for boldin.
