Badtoworse
Sometimes, "not enough" is just "too much." Such was the case as the Ravens opened their season against the Cincinnati Bengals. Unable to produce many offensive scores to counteract the litany of turnovers the team committed, the Ravens fell to their division rivals, 27-20. The stars shone brightly enough for Cincinnati's squad, though. Carson Palmer managed a solid 20 completions in 32 attempts, for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Chad "Sexy" Johnson caught five passes for 95 yards and a score, while T.J. Houshmandzadeh brought in an impressive nine passes for 50 yards, and also scored a touchdown. Regardless, the Ravens' defense stamped their seal on the game by holding running back Rudi Johnson to 50 yards over 18 carries. • I gotta put this one on Brian Billick. The playcalling at the end of the game was horrendous. The Baltimore D put its offense in line to win that game and again they come up short. You can blame the refs because of that call on Heap but it all comes back to terrible playcalling. 2nd and goal on the 2. Hey here's an idea...let's put the ball into the hands of our back-up QB (who's never proven anything) and have him throw into traffic while we have a guy (McGahee) on the sideline who's averaging over 4 yards a carry. Why did they sign McGahee to a multi-million dollar contract if they aren't going to use him in situations like this? (Yeah, I do have McGahee on my fantasy team and needed him to score...)
  • Hindsite is 20-20, good for learning, bad for being critical or judging. If the plays work, people are happy. If they fail people are mad (or is that madd)...

Ravens Week 1 - Speechless

Cincinnati, OH ? Good thing I'm a blogger. Because without the written word, my 30 hours in Cincinnati would have been worthless. Maybe it was something in the sauce (more on that in a moment) but my mouth went mute on Monday night as the NFL season finally started for the defending AFC North Champs. It was a longer wait than most teams had to endure as nearly half the league...

MNF recap: Baltimore Ravens 27, Cincinnati Bengals 20

What I liked about tonight's game is a very short list. What I did not like is a longer list, and Brian Billick's play-calling enjoys top billing.

Week 1 Preview: Ravens at Cincinnati

Andy Williams once hit the top of the music charts with a song about Christmas, but it is also fitting for the opening of every NFL season. Yes, folks, It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, and while kids will not be "jingle-belling" and most people will not tell you to be of good cheer, there certainly will be plenty of parties to be hosting and marshmallows to...
