MVN:
Wanted to post some of my initial thoughts on the first episode of HBO's Hard Knocks that aired last night. Great footage. Love the action. Loved the Oklahoma Drill action. Love the fight footage. Love the storylines. Like seeing some of the lesser known players and their fight to make the roster and where they came from.Liked the human side of Mike Brown walking to his car.Having said that...Mike Brown makes me uncomfortable to watch. He looks like he's in pain when he talks. He's as boring as he is depicted. Sad that Marvin has to sit in a classroom desk while Mike dictates what the roster is going to be. Quick comparison to last year's episodes: the Cowboys do it right. Hotel, not dorm. Actual meeting rooms with state of the art equipment. Owner who cares and is passionate about his team. Really? The Bengals charge their players for TVs? Almost cried myself when Reggie Kelly was told his season was over already. That sucked."Chase, what the **** were you thinking on that play?" That was great! Love that it's uncensored and the players don't care the mikes are on them. "Child Please" got annoying after the third time. Too much 85. But IMO anything with him is too much anymore. I know the NFL is harsh, but for God's sake the Bengals could have let Runnels sleep a little longer than 5:30 to tell him "you have 90 minutes to get your stuff packed and get to the airport". Would it kill them to let him sleep until everyone else is up? Harsh!!!Carson and Jordan Palmer...could they look more alike?Chris Crocker...love the attitude!Bringing in a guy from Kent State who was apparently that bad shows how piss poor the Bengals scouting department/GM is. Brutal!HBO, as always, did an awesome job. I've watched every single episode of every season of Hard Knocks and look forward to it every year. I looked forward to last night's episode since the day they announced they were going to cover the Bengals this year. Running a 101 fever didn't keep me from watching. I might suffer for it today, but it was worth it...even if Mike Brown still is the worst owner/GM in NFL history. Can't wait for next week!
