Former Viking QB Kelly Holcomb has officially retired from the NFL after 12 years (and one spent in the World League or whatever it was called back in 1996 when he was with Barcelona). Holcomb started 3 games for the Vikes in 2007 after being acquired from the Eagles late in the preseason. He compiled 515 passing yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT, then suffered a neck injury during a game and was done. The Vikings released him back in February. His best years came with Cleveland, and his greatest game came in the 2002 playoffs when he threw for 429 yards and 3 TDs in a Browns loss to the Steelers. Holcomb is set to be inducted into the Middle Tennessee State Hall-of-Fame on Sept 6., and will then take his place in the radio booth to call Blue Raiders games. And if that doesn't work out, he can always make it as a Taylor Hicks impersonator.
