How serious is the ankle injury that Damien Woody suffered yesterday? It’s hard to say as of yet, but the fact that he didn’t re-enter the game is telling enough.
Jets right tackle Damien Woody hurt his right ankle in the second half of the Jets loss to the Saints. He never came back in the game. He was seen leaving the Superdome limping on the ankle and with a brace on it. It’s unknown whether he will miss any games, but if he does, the Jets have a pretty good backup right tackle in Wayne Hunter.
While Hutch wrote that that injury “isn’t believed to be serious” there’s really no way to know between now and Monday night.
This is the sort of thing that I was concerned about going into this season on both offense and the defensive line. There’s no way to account for it, but during the 2008 season, I don’t know that any offensive lineman came out for more than a series … it was an uncommonly healthy unit.
