Some may argue that the Jacksonville Jaguars played hard and fought even harder during Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts.  I beg to differ; it was difficult and painful to watch. Is it Dirk Koetter's plan to burn up Maurice Jones-Drew while ignoring other offensive weapons at his disposal?  Five of Garrard's fourteen completions were to MJD, while Tory Holt only had three.  Marcedes Lewis caught three as well, but how he is still on the roster is puzzling to me.  Back to MJD; he also had 21 carries for 97 yards with an average of 4.6 yards per carry.  Very respectable numbers indeed, but if this is all the Jaguars can offer on offense we are in for a very long season. Out of the 228 total yards of offense the Jaguars were able to muster, MJD was responsible for 123 of those yards, or 54 percent of the total offense.  That is scary to say the least.  I know, it is only the first game, and it was on the road.  However, if this...

Jaguars Collapse Late, Edged By Colts 14-12

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ bread and butter is by and large running back Maurice Jones-Drew; as such, he would be the key for the Jaguars as they took on the Indianpolis Colts and their porous run defense. Yet the defense, namely the secondary, forced the Jacksonville Jaguars’ QB David Garrard out of his comfort zone as [...]

Jaguars-Colts one-liners

The Jaguars completed only two passes of more than 15 yards and finished with 114 yards overall in their 14-12 loss to the Colts. RB Maurice Jones-Drew carried the Jaguars offense, accounting for 29 of their 55 offensive plays. Rookie...

Who Looked Good, Who Didn't? Week One

At first glance, the game played out about how one has come to expect. The Colts offense generated a lot of yards, the Jaguars offense relied heavily on Maurice Jones-Drew and their running game. The Colts defense generated a lot of pressure on David Gerrard, while the Jaguars defense smothered the Colts rushing attack for much of the contest.

Five to Watch: Jaguars at Colts

The Colts start the 2009 season at home against division rival Jacksonville. Although the status of Maurice Jones-Drew is uncertain, the long history between the two teams should give fans an idea of what to expect. The newest addition to the ColtPower team, Brett Mock, focuses on five players to watch Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts 14, Jacksonville Jaguars 12

The Jaguars played hard today but it wasn’t quite good enough to beat the Colts on the road.  David Garrard was so-s0 completing 14 of 28 passes for 122 yards.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 14 yards (3.5 ypc).  Maurice Jones-Drew was very effective in this game carrying the ball 21 times [...]

Fantasy Football: Peterson, Brees terminate also-rans

How dominant was Adrian Peterson on Sunday? Let's put it this way: In standard scoring leagues, you could have started all four of the running backs that typically followed him in the first round of your fantasy draft -- Michael Turner, Maurice Jones-Drew, Matt Forte and Steven Jackson -- and thrown in Willie Parker for good measure, and Peterson would still be kicking your butt.

Finally.....NFL!!!!!

Minnesota -3.5 - 500 points. Two words...Adrian Peterson.Jacksonville +6.5 - 100 points. Indianapolis will win this one, but the Jags consistently play well against the Colts and I look to Maurice Jones-Drew to have another big game against the Colts defense. Bring back Bob Sanders and this may be a different game.

Jaguars' Punishing Ground Game Eclipsed By Colts' Pass Pressure in Loss

As Sunday's hard-fought contest between the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville was digested by major news outlets for casual public consumption, several prominent members of the sports media reached a curious conclusion. "The revamped Colts' defense showed that it was up to the challenge of playing in a slugfest against the Jaguars," NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks...

Colts-Jaguars: A Little Case of History Repeating in Indy's Week One Win

There's a well-known expression about the importance of history. Those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it. The Colts nearly lost their season opener to the Jacksonville Jaguars because they ignored history and allowed it to repeat. The bitter defeat to the San Diego Chargers in the playoffs last season boiled down to the Colts' inability to convert a third and short play...
