The New York Jets announced yesterday that 27,000 upper deck seats in the new stadium will be exempt from personal seat license charges. Jets owner Woody Johnson said he listened to the fans when the plan was being devised. The Jets are moving into their new 82,000 seat home in 2010. However, the lower bowl seats will have PSLs ranging from $4,000 to $20,000. Club seats will also have PSLs ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. Beginning in a few months, Jets fans will be able to select seats based on season ticket length seniority. The "Coaches Club" section will be the most exclusive section in the new arena. Licenses will be auctioned to the highest bidders with tickets going for $700 a game. The plan also includes parking, food and soft drinks. About 12,000 season ticket holders and fans on the season ticket waiting list will only have access to this online auction. The Jets became the 16th team in the NFL to sell PSLs. Jet fans have been anticipating the plan since the New York Giants introduced their own personal seat license plan in June. The Giants have fees for all seats ranging from $1,000 to $20,000. The two football teams will continue to call the $1.6 billion dollar Giants Stadium home next season. The Jets hope to raise around $340 million from the new license deal. Half of the money will be going to taxes and paying constructing costs. Jet fans have the option to pay in five installments over a five year time period. In contrast, the Giants are offering financing through banking institutions. The reaction of the Jets PSL plan has been mixed among the public. Hopefully, the acquisition of Brett Favre and other high priced free agents shows Jets fans that management is commited to putting a winning product out on the field.

Baltimore Sun-day

What a day for the Baltimore Sun on Sunday. At least for this blogger as the Charm City paper made it's dramatic debut on HBO's crime-drama, The Wire. The fictional newsroom will become a center piece in the show's fifth and final season and in last night's episode, the plot pointed out the perils of modern day journalism and the struggle smaller papers must endure...

OK Then

When Zach pontificated this afternoon about what the Rangers should do to accomodate Mats Sundin, I don't think any of us expected to have the point become moot within ten hours.
