~No, they don't. A team coming off of a 7-9 season, an 8-8 season deserve the best possible chance to win. College players deserve the best possible chance to win. But a collective of professional athletes drawing paychecks in the millions of dollars and failing to win a single game the year before? No. We passed what the Lions players "deserve" a mile back.
