NFL Fines Falcons For Supporting Vick; Contradicts Themselves

Roddy White, Alge Crumpler, DeAngelo Hall, Chris Houston, and Joe Horn have been fined by the NFL for honoring Michael Vick last week. Roddy White lifted his jersey after a touchdown revealing a "free mike vick" message. When Clinton Portis lifted his own jersey with a Sean Taylor tribute message, he received no such fine.

OF COURSE Clinton had every right to honor Taylor and he SHOULDN'T have been fined, but the NFL cannot pick and choose who to punish for violating the very same rule. Forcing your beliefs and ideals on others is a slippery slope.

this is a violation of there freedom to protest and speech rights

It's an NFL uniform violation is what it is. Whether they support Vick or not is another issue.

Mike Vick is a piece of sh*%t and deserves to be in jail and anyone else who supports him, especially those in the public eye as role models to children should be punished for supporting a worthless Thug!

That's our world today. Gangsters and criminals being role models to our children. And we wonder why our society is getting so out of control with the violence and hatred. And, on top of it all, we still have people that support that and make a big deal out of a criminal going to jail.

Correction! This has been our world way before Michael Vick was even born. A lot of you guys really need to read up on our history. Obviously, Vick is a very small fish in a very large pond. Or should I say a very small thug in the world of THUGS.

you think mike vick is a thug u really dont know what a thug is do u stupid ass

Sorry, did someone call him a Thug? We can downgrade that please to no good, crack smoking, dog abusing, lying, lousy criminal. Is that better?

agree with phuck philly, Vick is lower than anything you can imagine, what a joke he is.
Talk about having gray matter, he is lacking big time, so is his brother.

Make sure your toilette is clean.

I think it is wrong for them to fine the teammates who supported him. But if you look at it are the teammates advertising that is ok to do bad stuff. I have to admit that I looked at Michael Vick as a great person on the field not really off the field. But I believe this is one of the harshes penalty even if it wasn't a suspension.

Once again.....uniform violation and a pretty blatant one. Rules are rules.

Philly you're missing the point. Clinton Portis did the very same thing a few weeks ago and didn't get fined.

Reggie Bush also used to write "619" on his eye blacks.. Alge Crumpler wrote "7" on his eyeblack and received a fine.

Nobody is doubting that these violations broke a rule, the fact is the NFL is selectively enforcing the violation because they don't agree with the reasoning the players have. Thats plain wrong.

It's pretty obvious that the only thing wrong with the NFL is the governing body itself. It's easily the most popular sport of the big three right now. People watching the broadcasts just don't give as much of a shit about a player expressing themselves as the NFL thinks. We like when they use props for celebrations, when there's a "team" celebration and when they express how they feel whether it's under their jersey or whatever. If it doesn't hurt another player, who the fuck cares? FREE MIKE VICK.

It was just in poor taste for an NFL game. That's what I am getting at. There are other ways to support him besides showing that crap on national television during a game.

The Atlanta Falcons are S--t w/out M. Vick!!!
Get him back!
People kill deer, fish, and ANIMALS!!! A dog is a d--n DOG!! kill all the dogs including the univ of ga dogs!!!
I love VICK. FREE Vick

See my earlier post. You fit right in. I guess they could let him out and put an ankle monitor on him, but it would be hard to play with that thing on.

you are confusing food with pets..People don't eat dogs..in the US anyways.

People kill each other, too, but I guess in your world, Madison, that is probably OK, too.

A uniform rules violation by Portis, with one display to honor a friend and team mate who was murdered, versus, multiple violations in the same game, in the same manner, by these idiots who are paying tribute to a convicted felon, and who has also shamelessly passed on a sexually transmitted disease to another person...please. No contest. At least the NFL fined the RIGHT offense. The owner should fine them too. Free Mike Vick...no way. The State is gonna jail him longer, you'll see. He will never wear another pro teams uniform. the stigma associated with his stench will be too much. As for those other idiots....You need to think before you act...dumb A**ES! That includes you too Madison....your an idiot.

Thanks, Baumer. At least someone else out there has some common sense.

Please, lets not talk about STDs. Half of the people in the United States have robably contracted and STD sometime in their lifetime. Including you and Philly.

I sent Vick a box of soap on a rope for Christmas, and some dog biscuits! Hope he gets them.

Damn......he's gonna have two. I sent him the same thing. Oh, I did include one of those big leather collars with metal spikes in it, too..

There are a lot of people who love big leather collars and they also enjoy emulating dogs.

You make your bed you lie in it..I don't think Mike should have gotten the brunt of the conviction just for financing it, but he knew what he was doing was illegal, and therefore should be punished. I don't think he is the biggest scumbag to grace the NFL, but rules are rules. Perhaps the NFL felt that paying tribute to a fallen player is not grounds for a penalty. The commitee that makes these decisions must have felt that the Falcons players were out of line because their team-mate is in prison serving a 2 year sentence and was discharged from the team. Taylor was shot from a bullet while in his bed. They are very different circumstances, not such a slippery slope to me- your attempt to corellate the two is more like false dichotomy here.

Yeah....can't even put a correlation between those two episodes. Getting murdered in cold blood is a hell of a lot different than getting put up for a federal crime.

The biggest difference is vick is alive.

Uh oh....thta won't get through..it could be used as a weapon...But it is the thought that counts my friend...Hey, if they send it back to you, maybe Madison would like it... =P

He's probably already got one.......LOL.

Or a whole bunch from all the 'dogs' he's killed!....=D

Why does it have to be that Michael's teammates are supporting what he did? Like anyone, you support your family (blood or not). It doesn't mean they are saying they agree with him, it could mean that they are saying you made a mistake and we are not turning our backs on you. We've all done things that are not right at some point and time in our life and if we live long enough we are probably going to do a lot more. Some of us have done wrost and just have gotten caught!! Dogs are my favorite animals and I don't agree with what Michael did, but I pray he has learned from his mistakes and move forward in a positive way. I think his teammates was just showing their support of him not his actions. By the way, I like deers, birds, and rabbits. They are beautiful, but it's called a SPORT when you KILL them!!

This just demonstrates that there is nothing free about free speech or freedom of expression.
