This is the weekly awards watch. These are the leading contenders for each of the major awards, as well as runners-up. Check out the URL for the full article. Offensive Rookie of the Year 1. Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons - In Peter King's weekly mailbag, he made the point that Ryan should get MVP consideration. While I wouldn't put him that far, his performance against Oakland was indeed masterful. 2. Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans - Johnson has his best dual-threat game of the season, picking up a team-high six receptions for 72 yards to go along with his nice rushing total. 3. DeSean Jackson, WR, Philadelphia Eagles - Jackson had a quiet week, but remains the rookie leader in receiving. Check out the URL for the full article.

Falcons' Blank Sends Vick, Fans Clear Message

The signing of Matt Ryan to a long-term, high guaranteed money deal sends a clear message to Michael Vick and the NFL's largest black ticket base: Vick's not coming back as a QB under any circumstances.

Mock Drafts have the Eagles going after DeSean Jackson

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about peaking into the Mock Drafts to see who the Eagles might consider taking in the 2008 NFL Draft. Well it seems that NFL Draft Countdown has gotten word of my prediction and now has the Eagles taking DeSean Jackson with the 17th pick instead of USC OT Sam Baker.

Can DeSean Jackson Be Another Donte Stallworth?

Does DeSean Jackson bring back memories of an Eagles' receiver from a few years back? No not T.O., but Donte Stallworth. Stallworth and Jackson are both considered undersized for the wide receiver position. Stallworth at 6ft, 200 pounds. Jackson at 5'11" and 172 pounds. Give Jackson a few years in the weight room and 200 pounds is not out of the question for him...

What Happened to Chris Johnson?

National Football League Blogcast, NFL In a 13-10 AFC Divisional Playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens this afternoon, Tennessee Titans rookie running back Chris Johnson had a first half to remember — 11 carries for 72 yards and one catch for another 28. The Titans were controlling the ...

Eagles Sign Third Round Pick

The Eagles signed third round draft pick Bryan Smith Tuesday to a four-year deal. Smith was a defense end out of McNeese State. He had 31 career sacks in college, with 24 of them coming in his final two years. The Eagles have signed eight out of their 10 draft picks from this year. Only Trevor Laws and DeSean Jackson, their first two picks, remain unsigned.

Name Calling

Forget Manny, I'm sick of Papelbon being Papelbon; Brady being Brady; Matt Ryan being Brady; and I'm already tired of KG being, well, KG circa 1994 and his senior year at Farragut Career Academy. How the hell did this happen? When did Boston become Mecca for US sports? Did Ben Affleck sell his soul? Is this retribution for John Kerry and Michael Dukakis? Tea Party Part Deux...

2008 NFL Draft Pick Comparisons

So the Season is officially under way and I thought why not look at some of this past spring's top draft picks (sans Offensive Lineman without comparable stats) from the first 2 rounds and see what (if any) affect the they had in their team's games this past weekend. St. Louis Rams 2(2) - Chris Long, DE: 2 Tackles, 2 Solo Atlanta Falcons 3(3) - Matt Ryan, QB: 9/13, 161...

DeSean Jackson

Not sure why, but DeSean Jackson wasn't on the field during the past Cal scoring drive. He also wasn't in on Cameron Morrah's touchdown catch. He was on the field for the punt that preceded the last possession.

Time to step up, Chris Henry

The Titans' decision to draft a fellow Chris (Chris Johnson) in the first round a few weeks ago should have been a message heard loud and clear by Chris Henry. Despite being a second round draft selection in 2007, Henry is going to have his work cut out for him as he attempts to become a part of the Titans' running game next season and beyond.

Chris Johnson To Battle For Astros Third Base Job

Apparently unhappy with the prospect of going into the 2009 season with a depth chart that starts with Geoff Blum and bounces to Aaron ?f*&$in?? Boone at third base, the Houston Astros have invited 24-year-old minor leaguer Chris Johnson to Spring Training where he?ll battle for the In ...

Eagles To Start Scrub Receivers Against Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles have some injury problems at wide receiver coming into the big game tomorrow night against the Dallas Cowboys. Both Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis will not play. This leaves rookie DeSean Jackson (6 catches, 106 yards), Hank Baskett (who had a silly 2 catches for 101 yards and

Eagles-Cowboys: What I Saw

Well, it is 12:30 in the afternoon after the Birds' Monday Night Football game versus the Cowboys and I am finally waking up. I've been at work since before 8am but the coffee and breakfast bar didn't do anything for me. I would like to attribute the "hangover" to massive amounts of alcohol consumption, but in reality, it is the loss to our hated rival and...
