It’s been doom and gloom all week, with the news on injured DBs Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland seemingly getting worse as the days went along. Now, it’s official: Sheppard and Strickland will not be in uniform Sunday when the Jets face off against the league’s top-rated passing attack. Rex Ryan just told us that CB Lito Sheppard (quad) and CB Donald Strickland (ankle) are OUT against the high-powered Saints. Looks like CB Dwight Lowery will start again. Ryan said he thought about signing a cornerback but says with four safeties they can move enough pieces around. Lowery made some plays, but Drew Coleman was the standout sub in the secondary last week against the Titans. Needless to say, whether it’s Lowery, Coleman or Marquice Cole, the Jets will need someone to step up and make a play.
