Found July 25, 2008 on Lansdowne 9:
-First, and foremost, the Sox get their feared number 3 hitter back in the line-up tonight, Big Papi. Papi is coming off the DL after a 53-day, 45 game absence, where the Sox were able to assemble a 26-19 record. The record, though, does not quantify the offense's struggles without him in the line-up. Without Papi hitting in that number 3 slot, the Sox offense has been out of the top 10 in all three Triple Crown categories, coincidently, with him in the line-up they are in the top 10 of all three. -However, the player who everyone seems to be bashing recently, and the number 4 hitter in the Sox powerful 1-2 punch, Manny Ramirez is questionable for tonight's game with a sore knee. Who knows if Manny is just pulling one of his many stunts to show the Sox front office how much they need him, or if his knee has really been bothering him. Ramirez is the only one who knows the answer to that question, and I'm sure he'll be keeping it that way.

Manny Rejects Latest Offer...

Last night, the Los Angeles Dodgers made Manny Ramirez a new offer that was reported as one year at $25 million dollars. The philosophy behind the move was that Manny Ramirez would get the $25 million annual salary that he was looking for in 2009, and then he could try his luck again in free agency next off season, when hopefully the economy is improved. There's a catch though...

Manny rally.....

I feel so strongly about Manny Ramirez that barring a catastrophic injury to more then one core player, the signing of Ramirez would result in a World Series appearance. The Mets have significantly up-graded their bullpen, they will at least have one other solid starter in the rotation and an ...

Carlos Beltran Wants To Retire A Met

Carlos Beltran, spoke to Daily News writer Christian Red, and I'm diggin' what he's sayin... To begin, Beltran weighed in on the recent comments made by Cole Hamels who said the Mets are choke artists. "I just have to say, the Phillies did play well. They were champions last year. This year is a new year. I still believe we have a great team. If he says those words...

Good Things Don't Last Long

Remember getting swept by Houston before the Cardinals series? That was what tonight was like. Back to reality, I guess...-Ross Ohlendorf continues to encourage me less and less after a promising first outing. I don't know where the reports of his upper 90's heat were coming from, because I just saw 91-92 tops on the very forgiving FSN/PNC Park gun. He wasn't throwing...

Mets Barely Get A Passing Grade?

I just finished reading Ump Bump's take on the Mets 2009 forecast and I couldn't disagree more with their assessment. They graded the Mets a C- and here is their final analysis, though I encourage you to read the full article. I suppose it's to Omar Minaya's credit that he didn't push the panic button after two consecutive late-season failures. Then again, the...

Rays Sign Burrell

The Rays and Pat Burrell have come to terms on a two year deal worth 16 million dollars. Burrell, who hit .250 with 33 HR with a .367 OBP in 157 games for the Phillies last season, will likely DH and hit sixth for the Rays. This is an excellent signing by the Rays who add a veteran outfielder that puts up better power numbers and is much more durable that new Cubs outfielder Milton...
