Phillip Rivers is talking too much smack

The question I have is, what did the Broncs have to say earlier in the game. They were jawing and smacking. LT had his helmet picked up and thrown after being tackled. I think rivers is annoying but I'm guessing he had plenty of people in his grill all night.

Wait, so single him out when almost every other player in the league, most of whom have not won rings, also talk trash? Why is this even news?

I was very disappointed by the gross display of poor sportsmanship demonstrated by Philip Rivers at the MNF game on Christmas Eve.
I sat watching with my ten year old nephew, who like most young children, looks at professional football players as role models.
What kind of message of sportsmanship are you trying to send?
How many playoff games have YOU won? How many Pro Bowls have YOU been to? How many championships have YOU won?
None. You are a PROFESSIONAL football player...act like one.
You should be ashamed of yourself and the nation deserves an apology!

The chargers have never been an Elite team. The reason falls with the owner. It does not fall on the shoulders of the QB.

ATHLETES TALK TRASH. Its as simple as that. I would go so far to even say that it's apart of the game. If you have played sports before, I am sure that you have been exposed to some form of trash talk. People have talked trash to me and I have to other people. It is usually all in good fun. Nothing is ever taken seriously. And who knows Jay Cutler could have said something first to Rivers. Professional Athletes talk trash just like you and me. Its really not that big of a deal.

Worst part if talking all of the smack and losing At least River's team won and didn't have to eat crow.

I seriously doubt that Rivers and those other guys were taunting Cutler for absolutely no reason. He was talking plenty of smack himself, I'm sure. I agree that that's just the way it goes in sports, especially at the pro level. Players have giant egos, and they'll talk trash to the other team, to the refs, to the media...to anyone who'll listen. We know that, and we have to expect it. When someone crosses a line, they need to be put in check with fines, etc., but this is absolutely normal.

Oh, and wait a second... Rivers can't talk trash because he doesn't have a ring, but you can trash him because...?

Rivers thinks he's the reason the Chargers are good. Wrong! Let's put Rivers in Denver and see how much success he has. Rivers has a much better defense than most teams, a great running back, a TE and decent WRs. He is good because he has a good team around him, not because he's a great QB.

Of cours, that can be said for just about any QB. Brady would be average if he didn't have the receiving corps he has. Romo, the same.

Philip rivers looked like a little snot. It was like in middle school when you have the bully and his little sidekick sitting there sniffling and saying, "yea, yea.". Philip rivers was a little snotty sidekick. You just wanted to smack him once. He was like Drayco Malfoy. :)

Well, I do have to say........he's better than Eli Manning. Chargers got the best end of the deal on that one.

Rivers is noted for talking smack, Cutler isn't so it's hard to come to the conclusion that Cutler started it. Cutler had been complaining to the officials about some calls so the Chargers started getting on him. It's one thing to talk smack when you are ahead of a team that's playing bad but if you are losing not so much. Don't forget that Rivers told Chargers fans to shut up when the fans were on him for playing bad. Classic case of don't dish it out if you can't take it.

I'd say a 24-7 record in his two years as a starter means that he can talk trash on the field. It is football after all. Does no one else realize how much trash is talked between NFL players? Rivers is 4-0 vs the Broncos and Cutler in his career. Case closed.

I think the media in general is full of a bunch of Rivers' haters. Yeah the Chargers have a lot to prove, but come on Rivers is just a clean cut guy who enjoys the game. Trash talking is a part of the game. Either learn that or stop watching football and start watching womens' figure skating.

The charger-broncos rivalry is pretty fierce and nasty. The fans, coaches, players all hate each other. The papers of both cities are usually filled with trash talkin' the day before. Besides, everyone knows the broncos are a bunch of dirty chop blockers anyway.

They can say whatever they want to say. Philip is a guy with a big heart. He is a QB with lots potential, and he is a part of the CHARGER team that is sitting on top of AFC West, getting ready to go to play-offs. Yes, he's been inconsistent this season, but I've seen every single game he's played as a charger and I definitely saw that passion that he has for the game. When he got injured during that game w/ the Titans, he still went out there and won the game in spite his limping leg.The MNF incident was blown out of proportion. I definitely saw Cutler and the broncos getting emotional as well, so it really is no big deal. The incident was just really about two division rivals,battling each other. Rivers and the chargers have a lot to prove, but they have every right to be happy about their comeback after all the adversities from the beginning of this season.

When he beats Manning and Brady in succesion, I'll have a lot more respect for him. Rock on!!!

You should be proud Phillip Rivers is your QB. I watched every game at NC State and I know his potential. My poor school has not been the same since he left. He even made Chuck Amatto look like a great coach! Just trade him to the Panthers and quit bitchin about him. I have not heard anyone say anything about the fact that he has learned 2 offensive schemes in 2 years and still come out on top. Yes, he does have a great RB in LT but then again all of the great QB's I know did have a great RB in the backfield. Ask Dan Marino why he never won a Super Bowl...Speaking of a trash talker...guess he was not allowed to talk trash either...even if the did own every record at one time!!!
